What was the time control in this game? It's hard to believe that, after seeing the sac, Black would make that mistake at move 31 in anything slower than blitz.
Congrats on sick mating sacs, Shadowlike, TimM and BJJ, keep them coming! And thanks to BJJ for the bump.
I haven't played competitive OTB chess for over 10 years, and when I "retired" around age 40 I was rated in the low 1900s (from a prior peak rating of 2004).
After seeing this thread, I dug up the following game, played the month after I graduated high school. It was a wild game, in which my opponent sacrificed a rook for two pawns, and ten moves later I sacrificed my queen and rook for his rook and two bishops . My opponent eschewed a couple of opportunities for a draw by repetition, and I eventually used my rook and minor pieces to drive his king down the board through his connected passed pawns and into a potential mating net, after which he needed to give up his queen to prevent mate.
