Is this championship format better than the FIDE Knockout's they had in Vegas years back?
My suggestion would be this:
With the engines reigning supreme, chess has to shift to two fronts. One is truth in chess with the pursuit of purity...the engines reign supreme in this. What chess needs to focus on is exciting competition. I have no problems with the WC cycles speeding up the time control so that two games are played per day. You can have two Game in 120 minutes per day and make the match say 36 or 48 games. I think chess would benefit more from the competition aspect than the ultimate truth in position concept.
The problem with the earlier FIDE knockouts were too many people in too short of matches. Make the candidate matches a series of 36 games where 2 are played a day.
