OMG World Championship is On Anand Vs Gelfand

The announcers are at least trying to describe the dynamics of this match being so late and tied. Gelfand has two games to win one and become world champ. At his age, I hope he makes the most of this last opportunity.

As a chess fan, I do not want another "older" new world champ.

With Anand having white in the last game and owning Gelfand at rapid and blitz, Gelfand basically had to win today to have a realistic chance, right? How big of a favorite is Anand now? Like 3-1? 5-1?

it's far from given that Anand owns Gelfand at rapid. Gelfand won a lot of rapid games of huge importance lately (FIDE world cup and candidate matches).

Young care free Anand would crush Gelfand 20 years ago. Now with both players longer in the tooth results even out more.

Novelities and prepared lines are harder to meet in shorter time controls....Lets see what they have up their sleeves.

For what its worth..the match should be declared a draw if its even after this last game. Rapid and knockout format is how the world got some scrub FIDE world champions in the late 90's early 00's

I think the World Championship should always be the current champion vs whoever has the highest rating, it should be best out of 100 games, and if the challenger doesn't win by 10 points, then the incumbent remains champion. It's utterly insane that anyone as weak as #3 in the world might have a shot at this, and obviously whoever won two years ago should have an insane advantage because he won 2 years ago.

A similiar game to game 10 now with black c8 bishop in purgatory.
Seeing how rigid game 10 was - I really think we are gonna head towards the shorter format.

Ooh Kramnik commentating, excellent. Gelfand is playing these Rossolimos in a very computerish manner - screw pawn structure and try to get the bishops going.
