I'd like to play too, but we already have some games going so I'd like to get OK from mods first.

Three games is allowable, imo, particularly since my game will be going extremely slowly, lol.

For some reason, now that I'm engaged, my fiancee seems to have the strange idea that when I'm at home I ought to be spending time with her, rather than puzzling over what move to make (and how to explain my thought processes) in a game I'm playing on an internet chess forum

FWIW, I agree with her, which is why I try to do most of my posting from work, but this week was super busy and while I had enough spare moments to pop in and do a little bit of light posting here and there, I don't want to make Malkovich moves when I can't give it my full attention. I think I owe chessterfish a good game more than I owe him a fast game

your thinking of other stuff while saying "mmhmm" "yes dear" -skill clearly needs work

Nah, I'm good at that. The problem is that my "Blundering at chess when giving the game anything other than my ENTIRE concentration" skill is too highly developed to overcome anything else

Edit: My "Blundering at chess, even though I AM giving the game my entire concentration" skill is also pretty dang well developed, hehe.

Well the current games are barely moving, but I feel this should be saved from the upcoming archive.

Well I've got no correspondence games going anymore, so I want to play a Malkovich game with someone (read the OP if you aren't familiar with it). I have already played 2, but none are going on right now and I've always made my moves on time. It doesn't matter how strong you are, the game should be instructive for the forum anyway, but for the record I'm around 1800 on chess.com. Plus, I like to think I make fun moves, so you should enjoy playing with me.

If you want in, I'm fine with you just starting the thread. I'm not working this week so I'll see the thread soon enough. I've played white both previous times, so I'm giving you the white pieces if you don't mind.

I'm always interested in having my play publicly critiqued haha. Would you mind if I start the thread?

I'd prefer it! Quick rules question -- obviously no engine or friends helping, but where do we stand on opening books/databases? I don't care either way.

Sounds great, I'll get the thread started.

As far as opening books/databases, I was planning on treating this like an OTB game, so pretty much just us on our own. What do you think?

This looks fun. Would like to play with someone who has similar ratings (or higher).

Current ICC ratings:

Standard 2001
15-minute 1923

Both of those ratings are peak ratings though, I'm probably more like 1850-1900 strength.

Have never played a correspondence game before and ideally would like to start after SCOOP. Feel free to send a PM.

Standard disclaimer that 1) I haven't made a single move in any game since May, 2) I don't know if I can perform under the extreme pressure that is 2+2, and C) I'm an idiot.

Can you create the thread? I have an entire afternoon of soul killing meetings ahead of me.

If you want to do a different 1st move that's cool, but I think that's what we had before on chess.com. In fact, if you want to use those same moves from our game back in May we can. We got through 5? 6?

Oh sorry, I didn't mean I'd play. I just finished a game and have some other stuff going on right now. But I'd love to see someone else take up the b4 gauntlet

apestyles (if still interested) vs XaQ Morphy?

I would be interested in trying this as well, but I'm terrible so it would simply be as a learning exercise for me to gain feedback. I am 1423 on chess.com, but probably play a little stronger than that as I haven't played many standard games in a while, so call me 1500.

It shouldn't be surprising to those that know my chess game, but I've had good fun in the past with this opening.
