A Malkovich Chess Game A Malkovich Chess Game

Having discovered LifeIn19x19.com nee GoDiscussions.com I came across the idea of a "Malkovich game" for a detailed description see and the board has a section given over to examples to see how it's done in a game of Go:

http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/vie...php?f=37&t=146

but in short the idea is two high ranked players play out a correspondence game in the thread posting a diagram and their next move but also, in spoiler tags, commentary on why they are doing that and some of their considerations regarding what they see as the upcoming variations in short we get to see the thought process of the player as they play it. Obviously the players don't read each others commentary.

I would love to see this done with a chess game and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think given the quality of the posters and players on these boards it could be very educational. Nezh? McLovin? YouKnowWho? Anyone?... Anyone?... Bueller?

No need to stand on ceremony. First come first served you two can play the inaugural match. I flipped a coin and and Hackdeath got white. Whether you post in here or start a new thread with a more descriptive title is up to you.

It might be worth skim skimming over some of the Malkovich threads at Lifein19x19 to get an idea of format and I think a parallel discussion thread which you two aren't allowed to peek at could be a good idea as well.

This should be interesting.

Did we do this once before? I must be getting old because I can't remember. Regardless this is a really fun thing to watch.

It would be awesome to get yours (an others) insights into the game as well.

So lets try a comment system where commentary goes in spoiler tags and questions to the players go in spoiler tags tagged with @NAME above it. As long as people are sensible about keeping everything hidden and not commenting on stuff that is more than 4-5 moves old I don't think it would be too hard to keep track and would probably add depth as a learning tool as well as keeping the forum involved as more than just spectators. See if it works and if not we can refine it.
