Half of the articles on chesscafe now have their links replaced with "look for a new column when we relaunch in May".

This can't be good news. I can see they might have had difficulty monetizing the site. It's hard to sell articles on the internet, so they had to rely on hoping article readers would buy books from them. Yet they had some of the best content on the web: I practically never missed an article by Dvoretsky, Gijssen, or Heisman and there were other excellent writers there too. I was worried when they first started charging for archived articles: it was a sign they needed money and I had selfishly hoped it would continue as an unprofitable labour of love. It's never looked like a slick commercial operation, but I hoped it didn't have to be.

I can't see an official announcement regarding the hiatus. Hopefully it really is temporary and we see the same quality after the relaunch. Best of luck to Taylor Kingston, whether with chesscafe or something else.
