I assumed at the time that he wanted to be able to play b3 after Na5.

After that, I was planning 17. ... Na5 18. b3 Bxe4 19. Rxe4 Qd5, attacking both e4 and b3.

But Rab1 doesn't make any sense at all if you are just going to follow up with Qd1.

Really interesting position so far, I don't quite know what to make of it. I'll be very curious to see how this one develops.

My first thought is I slightly prefer black because of the little bit of kingside initiative, but that's about all I have right now.

I prefer black too, I hope Im just sucking at chess. Although white position looks cramped white doesnt seem to have important piece activity, still prefer black though.

Squeaky bum time for white imo. My intuition tells me white should play 31)Qa4 and get the queen on defensive duty. If white holds on he wins.

The threat of Rxf2/Rxf2 Qxe3+ looks too powerful. The only way white can hold on right here that I can see is Re1, but that just leads to a whole new set of awesome threats.
