Just found out you can play chess in Facebook messanger by using some commands

Type '@fbchess play' in messanger then make each move with @fbchess followed by the move

I strongly suggest checking out Timofeev - Eliseev from Moscow open. That game is completely ****ing nuts.

Wow, that is crazy. Seeing the final position first and then playing through it almost made it better
Spoiler:
because of the plot twist when Black doesn't get to queen his first f-pawn

Here is the real time chat from a game I just finished with ARC (ChessKing9577). The chat is better than the game.

rockfsh1: ARC your 8th move drops a pawn. You should consolidate your position before making moves like this
ChessKing9577: yeah i think this is lost already
ChessKing9577: i thought getting pawn was bad bc it gets your knight out with tempo
rockfsh1: 7, e5 is better. Al I have to do now is go into an end game and grind it out.
ChessKing9577: yeah, ive decided to get cute
rockfsh1: LOL
ChessKing9577: You should develop your minor pieces before bringing the queen out. Noob.
rockfsh1: Hah. As for queens, Qc2 is more thematic in the Nimzo
rockfsh1: OK I'll start developing my minor pieces
ChessKing9577: your LSB is poorly placed. You might think my rook is stuck in the corner but there's a loophole where i can still castle short OR long.
rockfsh1: My LSB is resting comfortably (for now)
ChessKing9577: you just lost some control over the 5th rank with my designed pawn sac.
rockfsh1: That sounds like the back yard professor analysis.
ChessKing9577: lol. you should post this game and chat on the forum later.
rockfsh1: and here we have the characteristic ARC pawn storm.
ChessKing9577: look at my space advantage
ChessKing9577: those pawns are potential queens.
rockfsh1: and now the passed pawn's lust to expand
rockfsh1: Rei would eviscerace
rockfsh1: eviscerate our comments
rockfsh1: your pawns will bite on stone
ChessKing9577: play it out. im no magnus - you can still win in this position.
rockfsh1: I feel the air wafting tru your position
ChessKing9577: rei will applaud you for defending my mate-in-1 earlier.
ChessKing9577: my king is about to become activated.
rockfsh1: Onward and upward
ChessKing9577: your vital g-pawn just perished.
rockfsh1: or from your point of view downward and backward
ChessKing9577: my knight is now on the ever-important h-file. That was from lesson 4 of Junkyard Professor's online seminar.
rockfsh1: my g pawn got replaced
rockfsh1: dun de dun dun
rockfsh1: your knight got rimmed
ChessKing9577: i can afford to lose an exchange
ChessKing9577: not developing your lsb will prove to be fatal.
rockfsh1: I'm fighting you with my LSB tied behind my back
rockfsh1: It's more potent than your dead bishop
ChessKing9577: alright, i can go on and probably grind out a perpetual draw if i want it, but that seems boring. i'll give you this one. gg.
rockfsh1: thanks 4 the game. Now back to work

The lichess game analyzer seems kind of useless. I'm white in this game - fun 2 min game where I beat someone ranked 600 points above me on ChessCube. My rating is in the toilet there because I keep playing bullet and am awful at it. Anyway it was one of those awesome king attack games that happens to run like clockwork.

So lichess calls 11. Rh3 a "mistake", presumably based on thinking Nxc2 is good for Black. When Nxc2 is actually played it evaluates to -2.2. It's only when I play Qh4 that it is like "ohhhh" and cottons on to what is about to happen. I found when using Stockfish on the game that it took like 10 seconds to realize that Nxc2 is lost for Black (bailing out before playing Nxa1 does not save the situation). But the lichess analyzer doesn't then backtrack and overturn its judgement on 11. Rh3, even though it should now realize the judgement was based on bad analysis.

It is pretty useless for anything more than a quick spot check. People salivate over all the details and think the centipawn loss is the word of God. It's really not. Run it through something locally with more than a half second per ply and compare, and you will see a huge difference. Lucas Chess can do the same sorts of stats and graphs but with much more useful information (though I wish it capped the centipawn loss on moves over a certain threshhold like lichess does) and you can throw as much power to the engine as you want.

I was surprised that betting markets have Anand as ranked sixth (sure, he has one of the lowest ELOs, but he's shipped this multiple times). USA#1

https://www.marathonbet.com/en/betting/Chess/

Odds to win the candidates tourney:

Nakamura, Hikaru 10/3
Caruana, Fabiano 17/5
Aronian, Levon 79/20
Giri, Anish 22/5
Karjakin, Sergey 57/10
Anand, Viswanathan 7/1
Topalov, Veselin 17/2
Svidler, Peter 14/1

Rex probably single handedly moving the USA lines. Needs to hedge after whatever he did to get the wc match in USA.

Harikrishna is quite interesting. Currently 2763, he has little in the way of big event pedigree. He has made his rating while playing in many more rating traps than the typical 2750+.

i have basically made this post before, but lichess is just utterly putting to shame every chess website in history. the stuff they are constantly improving for free is insane.
