You don't offer a draw if you're 300 points lower rated and an exchange down, just because you moved your Queen back to the square it just came from. If you're 300 points lower rated, you better have a winning position to offer a draw. Even in a drawn position imo it's on the higher rated player to offer the draw, but i may be too strict on etiquette here.
2. resigning when it's not your move. It interferes with my thinking process and messes up the scoresheet.

We're two pees in a pod my friend. I also hate when people (usually juniors) capture peices by taking the capturing peice and slamming it in a 90 mph collision with my peice. Hey, chess sets don't grow on trees, can you please remove the captured peice first and then place your peice on the square, christ.
Also when we both have under a minute left you can't start your move until mine is completed (that means ive hit my clock!), I routinely see this broken by just about everyone (including US Women's Champions)

We talked about this, I think in this exact thread a few hundred posts back. Tilted me enough to make me stop playing otb blitz, at least without a decent increment. Turns out it's legal.

Um lol. The practice itself may not be forbiden. Its not written down anywhere that you can't bring a crossbrow and proximity mines on an airplane, but that doesn't mean you can. I know there are rules against having your hand on the board or covering the board while your opponent is moving, therefor id have to say that covers moving while your opponent is moving.

I don't know if you've flown anywhere in the last 25 years, but there is usually a big sign at checkin requesting you not to bring weapons or explosives on board the plane.
Likewise, I don't know if you've played a chess tournament in the last 25 years, but there is usually something called a rule book. This is where you would find the rules.

Re: *** Chess Low Content Thread ***
yes yes the point was it oesnt say explicity that you can' brig a crossbow or remote mines, and the rulebook prohobits distractions OTB while moving which imo covers moving while moving.

I don't think I've ever seen that particular rule cited in this argument.
Here's a good post by GG (Question #2) http://www.chesscafe.com/text/geurt121.pdf

To be educational and not to be insulting: it's spelled 'piece,' not 'peice.'
And at the very least (or best?), it's not clear that it's illegal to move your piece before your opponent has hit his clock. Unlike on airplanes, where it does explicitly state that weapons and explosives are not allowed.

Has the icc lag system changed? My opponent just lagged very badly at point of 2:45 and the clock stopped. Few minutes later it suddenly jumped to 0:30 instead of just starting where it was.

Yes, finally. type: "news" to get a listing and "news [number]" to read it. It's their latest change and imo long long overdue. And this coming from somebody living in Thailand where the internet has a mind of its own. But a 5-minute game should not take 15 minutes to finish, ever.

Re: *** Chess Low Content Thread ***
I've been playing some blitz as opposed to 5-min lately and the games seem to play decidedly differently. Everybody seems to be putting more energy into the games whereas 5-minute alot of guys play kind of automatically. Is this just in my head or has anybody else noticed this?
If it is true I'm guessing 5-minute is just so addicting that people end up, as I often do, just mindlessly clicking that 5 button over and over. And soon after I guess you're on the chess equivalent of auto pilot. Whereas blitz games are pretty deliberate. You have to actually seek them out, wait for an opponent and you always know it's a real person you're facing since you can always rematch, etc.

Re: *** Chess Low Content Thread ***
What do you mean with "blitz as opposed to 5-min"?
For me, 5 minute games ARE blitz games. Blitz = 5 0, no?

Basically. Rush poker is actually a good analogy.
