ok, that's what i've been doing. I've been playing with a friend recently and anytime I get a piece up, I can just start trading pieces and hope to get to an endgame with a piece up. Good point about the pawns though, especially since I'm so bad at endgames. I have no idea how to mate with just a rook.

am I the only one who feels funny every time when I have to type "finger xxx" on ICC?

especially hilarious when I had the following conversation with a friend who plays chess, but doesn't play online.

Talking about some random stuff..

Me: oh so yeah, I fingered this one girl on IC..
Him: wait you fingered someone today?
Me: yeah but on IC...
Him: damn man, who, do I know her?
Me: well I didn't know who she was, but after I fingered her she turned out to be "name lastname"
Him: you fingered a girl and then asked for her name..? Wow.
Me: NO IT WAS ON ICC YOU DUMB****!

Finally got an ELO rating, 1983 on the May list. There aren't too many tournaments that are calculated towards the ratings around here (and I don't want to go play abroad just to be rated). Haven't really studied anything in the past few years due to acknowledging I won't get to (for example) 2200 anyway without paying way too much attention to the game, but it's still nice.

Hi, I'm picking up chess have played 115 games so far and lost about 90 of them ha,

Just curious as to the fastest way to learn..... I'm a strong draughts player but I get my but kicked in chess so bad....

Is it best to resign a game as soon as I know I will lose or will fighting on be more efficient for advancement?

Should I practice the same opening until I am good with that one or should I mix it up so I have a broader learning experience?

I had talked to a few people on the inside and they said that there would Never be a 3-minute pool. haha
