Ive basically quit chess 10 years ago.
Some books Ive donated to my local chess club and some books I sold cheaply to a chess book seller.
Some other I will keep and read in now and then.
I think there is a beauty in a good chess game that does not exist even in a very well played poker hand.

Its a great read for the intermediate or even the advanced players. Haven't gotten too deep into it but really enjoying it so far.
after that, I'd try The Most Instructive Games of Chess Ever Played by Chernev (only drawback is it's in descriptive but you're looking at chess moves, not memorizing the moves themselves)

in a similiar vein is Chess: The Art of Logical Thinking - Neil McDonald - Dan Heisman recommends them both BTW after LC:MBM
