I haven't been posting on here much but figured I'd make a brag post. Haven't been playing in many tournaments but the ones I have been in am doing well. Mostly just playing on chess.com and g90 one game per week swiss / rr's at my chess club.
Here is my biggest upset so far vs an 1800 in a g90 rated game.
Interesting game Cadaz. I have a few ideas, but admittedly haven't looked at the game a ton. If any of my ideas are foolish or you already looked at them, let me know.
What do you think about not trading queens with 15.Qg3? I like the idea of keeping queens on the board with the two bishops. Plus at this point his knights don't have any great squares and you can build on your space and open the position at your leisure.
I also wonder if 17.Bb2 would make sense. The check with 17.Ba3+ looks attractive, but helps his king move to a square it wants to go to anyway, just with tempo. I was thinking something like 17.Bb2 followed by some combination of d4 and Rad1 when white's pieces are all well placed and the knights don't have any really good squares.
I think the same thing about 23.g4 that I did about 17.Ba3+. Black's knight will have to go back to g7 at some point, and playing g4 just helps that while creating some kingside weakness in your position.
That's all I've got for now, but good work drawing against an IM, even in a simul.
We got on the subject of chess at work today, and someone wanted to watch me play a game. So I fired up chess.com, and started a blitz game to try and keep their interest. I had black, and the game was as follows:
Beat: Three weeks ago, to myself, "I think I'm in the mood for some blitz."
For me, that's roughly the chess equivalent of "I think I'm in the mood for some heroin." Next thing you know, my mental edge is in shambles and it's going to take me weeks to get back into mental playing shape.
