Beat/Variance

Played an OTB game last night that went till 1 am because my opponent declined my draw offer in an opposite colored bishop ending, one he was slightly worse. So we had to have a 90 move game.

Eventually he sacd a pawn to avoid a draw which resulted in a position that he was needed to be very careful. He still tried to win and actually played in to a position that was lost! but for some bizarre reason I made an obscure king move that threw away the win and ended in a theoretical pawn rook pawn ending that was a draw but could have ended badly if I didn't know my endgame theory that to draw I need to make an anti intuituitive move away from the pawns to gain access to the drawing squares. Fortunately I know about this outflanking maneuver

Also I was leading the tournament 6/6 (my opponent was 4/6) now I'm equal first with 6.5/7 and my closest rival is the top seed. We play in the last round (11 round round robin) and I have white. It's looking like it will be a very exciting finish but I liked my chances a hell of a lot more while I still had draw odds with

Sick brag: Today I had to play a inter-univerisity match and I was 11th board ( this is probably a beat). Unfortunaly I had a common cold , I told my coach and he told me to play anyway. One hour before the game I took an over the counter medicine with the hope it would hit me by the time I had to play. The game was 45/15

I got black and he played a Ruy Lopez and I went for my standard berlin defence which he played correctly, I made a small inacuracy and he punished me ( I thought he was playing excelent at the time) . After about an hour of play I began collapsing and my ability to see the lines properly was going down, at that point I was down two pawns so I had to look for some tricks, eventually I saw the light and managed to win an entire piece which set me up for a knights + 2 pawns vs 4 pawns endgame which seemed like a draw to me but I still had to be careful. After thinking for about 6 minutes I made a move which seemed to me had found the draw( this put my clock down to 10 minutes) then he automaticly played a move that lost him the game and he had 19 minutes on the clock!! I still cant believe this guy played some very solid chess for an hour and then made two silly mistakes than went from winning to drawing to losing

He used 20 minutes to crash me, 6 minutes to throw away his advantage and then lose the game and 9 more minutes to realize he had lost the game. ( This doesnt count the increments, I think we probably played around 45 moves)

Just lost two correspondence games, including a 50+ move rook endgame, to a player that made no inaccuracies, mistakes or blunders (after a quick check on lichess).

In blitz he's rated ~900 (after 500+ games), and in one of his latest games he got checkmated in 14 moves as white (against another 900).

Maybe it's not that unusual and he just can't manage the clock.

I just didn't expect this possibility to bother me as much as it did - I think I'm being silly.

Definitely sounds like he used a machine. lol @ a perfect 50 move chess game coming from not Magnus Carlsen.

well, I think sometimes it's possible to play 50 moves without the computer saying you made a mistake (0.5 pawns or whatever its threshold is). But not for a 900 in most reasonably interesting positions.

In my opinion anything over 0.25 should be counted as an inaccuracy.

I managed to draw against the NM in my game as white Nothing exciting happened except for the fact I avoided blunder for 20 moves.

Black to move

Beat:
Chess.com computer analysis tagged my next move in this position a blunder. Find the correct move.

Spoiler:
I played 26... f5?? (Should have played 26... Bxh3! 27. gxh3 Rh4 28. gxh7+ Rxh7 29. Qg6+ Rg7 30. Qe8+ )

Brag:
Despite that blunder and another error, I Won the game anyway.

I remember that position from when I was watching your game, but haven't really analyzed it.

Really? How did the knight go from d4 to b4 in one move?

Should have been:

30.a4 Kf6
31.a5 Nc6
32.Rb6 Nb4

I played IM Michael Valvo once in correspondence. He used to laser print the position directly on his postcards, which was impressive to me at the time. I met him in person at the New York Open, one of the two years it was held in Newark in the mid 90s. Our correspondence game was still going, and I introduced myself. He told me he got the position wrong in one of his other games, and his opponent saw this on the postcard. The opponent deliberately exploited this and got him to hang material. As a result, he immediately resigned all of his correspondence games and quit playing it.

I'll definitely watch it. Just not a fan of Tobes McG, though. To this day I can't explain or comprehend his level of fame. Must be his bestie Leo DiC pulling a TON of strings for this dude.

I would have liked to see maybe Jesse Eisenberg but I guess he doesn't have the hair for it and maybe would look ridic with a wig on. Tobey always just seems dead inside.

Obv this is huge miscast but i guess the execs are banking on most of the viewers not having any clue about the real fischer, to know the film is super innacurate, shrug.
