I've solved 450 puzzles on chesstempo the last 5 days or so, since i found out about the site, and i've been playing some sick standard chess lately. so about 30 minutes ago, while i'm waiting for an opponent for a 30 0 game on fics, i see tentacle(2257) looking for a game of 15 30 and i decide to play him.

Mate in 14 moves.
http://www.ficsgames.com/cgi-bin/sho...13;action=show
After his move 8 i actually started regretting my previous move and just decided to go for an all out attack.
I'm rated 1780 so this was the sickest thing that has ever happened to me in chess.

i'm playing some sick attacking chess lately, if i may say so myself. The game before this one my opponent gave up after 15 moves when his king was in the middle of the board.

EDIT: For some reason i seem to play better against bots, do they play differently somehow or is it just samplesize?

gg Tensaigg!

I just had a fun game. I'm loving the white side of the KID bayonette now. I was getting slaughtered playing it at first, but now I've caught onto the nuances a bit and am starting to really crush guys who don't know exactly what they're doing in it.

Trying to restrain white's play on the queenside is not the right idea:

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 O-O 5. Nf3 d6 6. Be2 e5 7. O-O Nc6 8. d5
Ne7 9. b4 Ne8 10. c5 a5 11. Ba3 axb4 12. Bxb4 h6 13. Nd2 f5 14. f3 f4 15. Nc4
Kh8 16. Nb5 Rf6 17. a4 Ng8 18. Qb3 Bf8 19. Rfc1 Rf7 20. Qa3 Ra6 21. a5 g5 22.
cxd6 cxd6 23. Nb6 Bd7 24. Nxd6 Bxd6 25. Bxd6 Rxb6 26. axb6 Qxb6+ 27. Bc5 Qg6
28. Qb2 Qg7 29. Bb5 Bc8 30. Bxe8 Rc7 31. Bd6 1-0

very nice game! This used to be one of the standard ways to play against computers. Back when they were just getting good and could compete with grandmasters, there was a German 2200 guy called Nemeth who specialized in beating computers. This sacrifice to open the h-file was a theme that came up a lot in his games. I don't know if you knew this, or just decided it was a good idea over the board.

Personally I find it very difficult to play against computers, even relatively weak ones. I feel I should be able to beat GriffyJr and GriffySr at standard on FICS but never can. I definitely feel intimidated because no matter how long the time control, they play instantly.

Great game! I've never seen that Bg4 h3 h5 line of the Lopez exchange, but I like the idea of it (as black) a lot. I may have to play around with that.

It has gotten me a lot in the past. Very tricky for white imo.

I haven't analyzed the game yet, just done a quick blunder check with Fritz.

Some comments:

10. Ne5 is probably better, but I had read about 10. Nd2 and wanted to try it.

I think his 20... Rfe8 is imprecise because his f-pawn gets weak. Around this time I started to enjoy the game. He then decided to give a pawn and try his luck in the endgame but I was fairly confident to win it.

The game would have been 30 moves shorter if I had played 32. Rc1 because he can't stop R1xc4 and then Rc8. Or 33. Rf1 when he can't stop e5, e6 etc. As it was his pieces become active but my position was already so good that even I did not manage to spoil it.

If you don't already know him, you should probably say hello to the other 2p2er playing in Neckar, he posted in one of the other threads.

YUM YUM. I've been sick for about a week. It's insane what it does to your thought capacity. Over it now and back to berating Kunifax while playing him, playing terribly and still winning against his bs play.

Yeah the tictac isn't too hard to find since it's like one of two possible tactical continuations. Setting it up was the dandy part!

I also like the position since everything just barely works. Even if there was a minor change like my king being on g8 then the whole combo fails. As a matter of fact, I think if a single piece (or even most pawns) was changed even just slightly, the combo becomes impossible. So I guess I like it more for aesthetics than anything else. The entire army has to walk a very thin line to make it work, but it does!
