Yeah but 2 more and we'd have 31, which is an awful number to go with. Though 1 more than that and we'd have an even more perfect 32.

30 is better than 32 because of the 6-man groups. 36 would be perfect if everything runs well but one tie in the preliminaries could spoil it all.

In fact, either 18 or 54 participants would be perfect-perfect.

Someone must have withdrawn from the tournament. I really hope that wasn't because of my light-hearted comments on participation numbers. Of course everyone is still welcome to join, until we start on tuesday.

Not fair, last year's winner is in my group. You sure the groups were made correctly?

Thanks for the invite.

Mobile it says 2 days left for a move on the computer 3. When on your last day will it be shown how many hours you have left to make your move?

Good luck all!

It wasn't inevitable... But I probably should not talk about the games while they are going on. We can discuss them later if you want to.

By the way, if I saw correctly, the following players have yet to make their first move:

SplitOpenAndMelt
KyleMayhugh
beeflip
hanasu
and last but by no means least the defending champion NSholar.

You guys have about one and a half days left to start. Would be a shame if some of you missed the start of the tournament and timed out.

Just a friendly reminder because you'll probably look here at 2+2 more often than over at chess.com.

sounds good, think our 2nd game will be a bit more competitive (hopefully)

i actually really like the format so far, pretty boring having one game going at once but having 8 is awesome

Oh, I was just expecting some dignitary to come and make the ceremonial first move on my behalf.

Really great showing and a lot of new names; good games to everyone!

I know that this isn't the proper thread, but how come the new match, the "X Mas Open" has a rating range of anyone less than 2015, and they just so happen to have a 2014?
