It's unfortunate that the rules prohibit someone rated 2k to look at the board and say "yep, thats a draw"
Finally got him to get the Queens off the board.

On move 48 he just put his rooks into a knight fork.

Two rooks vs rook and knight isn't a slam dunk for me in this (or any) spot, but maybe he'll give up.

Is the Cambridge Springs Defense a viable option in the QGD? I seem to stumble into it often playing black and don't particularly like my results.

Yeah it is, poor results are probably due to the "stumbling into" part

Sigh, how did I blunder my rook in a winning position.

Should still be winning, maybe. Jesus though.

(Comments on vix's game therein.)

Spoiler:
I don't think he's actually the best.

That comment about Bd4+ should be spoilered, imo -- the game is still in progress and it's an idea that has a chance of recurring (e.g. if Black decides to blunder it again). Plus knowing he missed an easy game-clinching move might have a negative psychological effect, etc.

I deleted ARC's post, let's keep any discussion of ongoing games to spoilers

29 Re1?? Yeah, not the first choice

Very pretty royal shish-kebab there tho. Yummy.

I've won my second game, except my opponent is making me play it out.

Is this disrespectful to the point where i should promote all my pawns?

Meh, he probably doesn't know you are underrated and thinks you'll screw up or stalemate him. I'm sure he'll resign soon.

I think I'm quicker to resign in personal matches than in matches where I'm representing a team.

Sure, but its King/Rook vs King basically. We've had a pretty awesome battle- in fact i offered a draw a couple times. He should just quit, i'm not going to stalemate him

So I was smart to draw a game vs. renodoc when I was a very slight favorite?

Doc don't read this until the game is done.

Spoiler:
At move 52. ...Rc3 is best as it forks 2 pawns right away. In the game after 75...Kg5 you have forced mate anyway. No need to torture him any further.

Thanks rock.

Feels pretty good to go 3-1 against 2 higher rated players in these two tourneys.

Have we won any of the matches where I went 4-0 in months ago? Surely those gotta be close to over.

How helpful is it for me to join this new match? I guess what I am saying is I do not want to be playing a ton of turn based games as they seem like (for me) somewhat waste of time. OTOH, I can very much be talked into it, especially if another board is needed or something like that.

Right now we seemed over matched on all boards and could use some stronger players for balance.
Their player snipper911 favors the Fried Liver Attack as white. Yum yum.

Maybe wlrs should step in and tell me yes I'm needed or no lol. I certainly don't think I'm very strong. But plenty of players seem to somehow be worse lol.

Thanks brah. I think the "somehow" here is "weren't raised with chess, haven't played chess for decades, and don't routinely dine with Grandmasters."

FWIW I think this is very playable, especially OTB and even in correspondence below 2000

Wouldn't mind playing in this, but on the other hand I have no computer for probably another week and a half and my phone is on the fritz so I avoid using it for non phone stuff until I sort a new one.

Maybe I'll still play anyway, not sure.
