Re: 2+2 Chess Team (chess.com)

I drew with white against a 2045. He managed to go a pawn up but I saw a tactical trick that forced a rook + 4 pawns vs rook + 3 pawns all in the same side of the board ending for him so I offered a draw in the hope he would accept and he did .
I dont have a clue about rook endings so he should have played out and hoped I screwed up imo.

The second game is looking bad already and I will likely go a pawn down, Im going to see if I can get enough compensation to get another draw but it isnt looking likely.

Plenty of team matches open at the moment - join up, more players needed

Re: 2+2 Chess Team (chess.com)

i'm quickly approaching capacity limit...i'll try to join all matches where i don't take away a spot from another 2+2er.

Maybe we could try to establish some regularity in the matches, for example start 3 matches at 1st and 3 at 15th of a month or something like that. As it is, sometimes 2+2 doesn't start a lot and i sign up for other stuff and suddenly we have like 5 matches i want to play and i get too many games.

Re: 2+2 Chess Team (chess.com)

I just made two completely moronic moves in games I was winning. Meh.

Re: 2+2 Chess Team (chess.com)

no drink this time.. that's the worst of it. Just a 2 second glance at the board and move.

Might as well play blitz if I want to do that :x

Re: 2+2 Chess Team (chess.com)

in this maybe slightly better endgame i didn't really have a good idea how to proceed. So i make a mysterious rook move and everything clicks into place...

38. Rd1! Nb3
39. h4 Na5
40. hxg5 hxg5
41. Rh1 Nxc4??
42. Rh7+ Ke6
43. Rxe7+ Kxe7
44. Rxc7+ 1:0

I loved the geometry.

Of course 41. ...Nxc4 is a blunder but he does have difficulties defending his b6-and c7-pawns at this point.

bumpity, a couple of team matches open. Also one of the vote chess games is at an interesting juncture (not the one where we are a piece up and mating)

update: way out of top 10. I think with doing tactics even more important than quantity is quality - focusing on the problem and verifying your thoughts against the correct solution (usually you can see it via analysis board). When I'm not fully focused my rating plummets and I suspect I might not even be learning that much while bleeding points
