Hello guys

A few months ago I started playing in this site. Not many games, probably 20-30 cash games and around 15 5p matches for 2 months and I got my account was closed.Thats what i got as explanation from support:
Dear Mr. Dimitrov,

Our records show that you are winning FAR more often than the average player.
Therefore, we suspect you are using bots or some other kind of technical help
to reach more winnings. We kindly ask you to submit your complete bank data
including IBAN and SWIFT.

Best regards,
The Support Team
As you can see they dont talk about PR or anything.Actually they don't know at all what PR is all they care was that my winning % was high (actually I even don't know how high it was as you can't check, may be 70 to 80%,not higher).Tried to explain them that it doesn't matter if you win even 100% of your games, its your error rate that matters, but they didn't understand and didn't care.I was on Cyprus Open just 2-3 days after they close my account (early December 2012),and offered them to record via camera my matches if they are interested, but they didn't care.By the way my PR was above 6 for my last 8 matches, the only way to know it is to screen record via software like Camstudio, and then use game transcript. It's a time taking process, but it's the only way,as there are no records of the games played, there are no saved files.Anyway, for those who still try to play online bg,be careful, sites can not be trusted these days.
Regards
Svilen

Not working in the world of backgammon security and integrity I still would have assumed that they could have come up with something more substantial than the reasoning given, assuming you're not a bot? (Please complete the captcha below)

Their player pools must be precious as they fear potentially losing players because of your play.

I'd say you're obviously a very good player and find a new site.

Well, it seems that they at least paid you. For good players it is probably a fairly hopeless situation without any good solutions on the horizon.

As we have recommended countless times on this site, don't play backgammon for money online. You're wasting your time, your money, and your energy. Play for free online and improve your game for live play.

Well StarGames still is the best option from everything else that is available.

Mistakes like this happen but this shows that they are at least trying to do something to protect weaker players.

I know the case of Svilen personally, I know he is an exceptional player and I know that what StarGames did finally was a mistake (although I tried my best to help him).
My point is that things shouldn't be generalized so easily.

P.S StarGames is smart enough to know that they can not 100% make a correct decision. That is why are allowing for funds to be withdrawn. Tell me other backgammon site that would have allowed this?

Several people have asked me "Why would an on-line gaming site cheat? They make their money from the rake on each and every game!"
Well consider this: If you had spent say two million $ to create and promote a gaming site and attracted 10,000 players of which 30% were god-awful and played every move wrong while 10% were good players who would win despite the house rake.
What would happen? Well the god-awful players would attract more players who would sign on after seeing their awful play. But the god-awful players would not last more than a week or two and would not be replaced by equal numbers of 'fish'. So after a few weeks you would be left with about 8,000 players with fewer of the 'fish'. And each week you would lose more of the bottom of your players until only the 'sharks' remained who would look at one another and say "What are we doing here feeding the house rake? We're wasting our time!" And so they too would soon be gone.
And so you would have spent $2 million for a gaming site with very few players left and no prospect of recovery.
Anyone who has run a home game - whether backgammon or poker - knows that if you lose your one or two main 'fish' the others will not come. Well internet gaming sites are the same only on a larger scale. To survive you have to protect your drawing cards - the 'fish'.
And that is why all internet gaming sites cheat. The ones who are gone now recovered their money by scooping the cash in the players' accounts. The ones that still operate do so because they protect their 'fish'. They also protect their new clients - those who have newly opened an account. However, if the new player starts winning, he soon finds himself losing games that are normally won in a live game.
In live poker games, the scam is called getting 'cold decked'. In on-line games, you can get 'cold decked' according to the programming of the 'random cards' deal. You can be dealt appropriate losing cards which at first sight seem like sure winners! In backgammon you can double where you know you are a 70% favorite but then you lose 90% of the time - welcome to Party Gammon!

I respect Mr. Robertie's sound advice. "Play for free online and improve your game for live play." Problem is that the vast majority of backgammon players will not have opportunity to play live games. I live in an area where there are no players and no games. Playing on the internet is the only match I will see for the next ten years unless I go to ABA tournament. That will cost me $1000 for room, meals and Advanced Section fees. So I will play games/matches against Extreme Gammon and maybe turn into next Jerry Grandell. I will meet you all in Monte Carlo when I am 80. Playing for free on the Internet is worthless. I have 75% win record and am Intermediate at best. Can someone please recommend an internet site where top quality players frequent?

Ty for response.

I will try to log in.

Is this site a continuation of Ken Arnold's GamesGrid site?

Yes. The software is essentially the same, only the name has changed.
