White - Pips 105

Black - Pips 144
Black on roll. Cube action?

I thought this was an interesting position. White rolled a super awkward 55 and was forced to play 10/5(2) 6/1(2). Now, despite black being on the bar and +39 in the race, it is actually correct for him to double here. White's awful position is the obvious reason, but intermediate players (like myself) would likely miss this opportunity and lose market quickly after a re-enter.

I had this position and doubled, but it didn't occur to me that it is already too good to double here. My opponent took, however, blinded by the pip count. Despite my weak board, White's game is in terrible shape.

I was surprised, too. You get tons of gammons as black, and I guess it tilts things in favor of playing for 1-away instead of letting white get off the hook and playing from 2-away.

It is actually a massive -0.321 error to double here.

Selective memory hits me hard here. I feel like I would be rich if I had a nickel for every time I made a double like this, then watched white walk past me like I wasn't even there. Dunno, maybe I am covering the outfield wrongly or something.

What do you mean? This appears to be a clear double by black in the first diagram. The second diagram black has a very clear advantage, too good to double.
