Just saw the list today of the inductees. I figured Robertie would be a first ballet inductee but didn't know until today. Congratulations. But how did they leave off Taper Mike?

ROTFL!

It is possible that Bruce Becker, author of the infamous Backgammon for Blood, just edged me out.

Congrats, Bill! You are a deserving inductee.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

Taper Mike will mke it someday, but first he'll have to win one of the big ones!

Congratulations Bill. From the little I know, it seems very well deserved after a lifetime playing the game and discerning the theory behind it. The stories I've read about roll-outs by hand have left me speechless.

Taper Mike deserves an award from the readers here on the forum at the least. I certainly have benefited from his tireless and well-explained posts that must have taken ages to produce. I hereby nominate him for the 2+2 backgammon forum hero award! Thanks Taper Mike.

Thanks for the words of support. I do enjoy writing. Trying to explain things help me learn them. I once told a friend I might be the 10,000th-best backgammon player he the United States. When he popped back with, "Are there that many serious players in the country?," I said, "You get the point."

There is only one Giant of Backgammon who posts regularly on this site. Thanks for all you do, Bill!

Congrats to Bill on his well deserved spot in the American Hall of fame.

AS we are remembering the great players, it reminded me of 2 non-american players whose books were available here in New Zealand :- Joe Dwek and Phillip Martyn. Do you know Bill if they are still playing and what they are doing now days?

My highly placed sources tell me that Joe stills plays the occasional high-stakes game in London.

Philip Martyn retired and disappeared from the BG scene back in the late 1970s. I've been playing in tournaments since 1978 and I've never met him.
