Also, what is ur favorite non money internet BG room. There has to be a better one than yahoo. It would be nice to be able to review the plays and retroactively look at probabilities and moves after the game is over.

If the question is "How should Red play 4-1?", the answer is 13/8. That minimizes White's shots, and keeps the back checker 12 pips away from White's checker, which is the right distance for maximizing Red's shots.

Is this a money game or a match ? If it is in a match at a score where white's gammons doesn't count, this is a tough technical problem. If gammons does have value for white, I play 13/8 to minimize red's hits.

I think the distance that maximizes the number of Red's shots is 11 pips. Out of 1296 being 12 pips away gives 405 shots, while 11 pips gives 418 and I dont think the 12th pip gains enough on sequences two rolls to compensate for 13/1296.

I play at Safe Harbor Games. My preference is to play in the Gammonzone tournaments or to play in other structured tournaments where you arrange playing times with you opponents Gammonzone, Warp Gammon, etc. When certain tournaments are going on you will see some very good players dropping in at SHG, Stick, Neil Kazaroos, Mary Hickey, Rich Munitz, Joe Russell, are a few that come to mine, and there are others as well.

There is rated pick-up play in the "Cove" room if you like that. The one thing to watch out for at SHG is that they have many rooms with dice that do not give they correct amount of doubles. These are marked with red dice on the main page. The rooms marked with yellow dice on the main page are the ones to play in, they give the correct number of doubles.(That is a whole story in and of itself)

You can set the interface to save match files at the end of the match.

The interface is Ok, I understand that on sites you pay for the interface is probably better, but the SHG one is quite playable, certainly compared to Yahoo.

If you decide to play on SHG look me up, I play as BigWill there.

Gammonsite charges $40 per year to play there, and supposedly has a good interface. It is not money play. I have not used it so I can't see much else about it.

There are still a lot of people that play on FIBS, I do occasionally but prefer SHG.

I have tried a few other free sites, but SHG remains my choice at the moment.

Looks like from the screen shot it is a 1 point match with the cube at 4, which makes it a money game I guess. Since there is no money involved on Yahoo games I am not sure what the point of doubling a 1 pointer is?
