Hey I hope its fine to post this topic here.
My father has birthday soon and is a huge backgammon fan. So I wanna buy him a really solid backgammone game.
Price range should be 100-500eur.

Would nice if you could tell me what I have to look out for to get a good board, or if you could give me any recommendations.

Here are a few things to look for in a good backgammon board:

Size: Checkers should be about 1.75" in diameter. Six checkers should fit snugly into a quadrant of the board without a lot of wiggle room. When open, a good board will be about 27" wide and 22" across.

Playing surface should be a soft material so the dice don't make a lot of noise when they roll. Leather, suede, or cork are the best materials for this.

Dice should be precision if possible.

For a great set at slightly more than your price range, check out the P-40 board (google 'P-40 backgammon') which will allow you to customize pretty much everything. You might want to step up a few Euros to bet him a beautiful board that he'll really love.

The Boards are supposed to be well done and nice to play.
