I think double hitting would be far superior than making the 9 point, due to the fact that you may get a chance to hit the blot on White's 9 point, which may point or attack you, if just make the 9 point. Plus your Blitz chances go way up if White can't come in quickly.

I would double hit, because it offers more opportunity for a dynamic enervating game.

Yep, XG leans toward the double hit. Appreciate the explanations.

Enervating? I had to look that up. Good word - basically means "mentally exhausting." In my case, I wonder who would be more enervated - me or my opponent.

I think your opponent's blot on the other side of the board is important, too. I'm not sure I would blitz if that were cleaned up.

Good point. If black double hits and then gets hit upon white's re-entry, things could go south in a hurry for black. 2 sides to a coin here.

Here is the XGID for this position. I set it up for no-Jacoby, no-beavers, but I doubt that makes much difference.

Thanks Mike - I need to start posting the XGID's for these positions.

I'm starting to see a recurring theme here - if 2 moves are relatively close in terms of risk/benefit, the more aggressive move usually is best. If that makes any sense.

If the more aggressive move is best for a similar risk, it should therefore yield a higher benefit if things go well...

Since I've been studying this game more seriously, I'm finding out that I was playing too risk averse, particularly so with the cube. Now I'm doubling too early and taking when I shouldn't - progress!
