Checkers, Flat or Dimpled? Checkers, Flat or Dimpled?

At P-40 we've had quite a few people tell us they don't like the metal checkers we've designed for our board. we've decided to press forward with having checkers manufacturer for us from the same material that casinos use for chips. The material can be colored using our die sublimation printer. Customers would be able to have checkers made to the exact color perfectly matching the points on the board or the board they currently have at home. Weight of the checkers is similar to our metal checkers which most people say is just right.

in addition to coloring the checker to one's wishes, putting a logo or initials on all checkers would be a simple matter. for instance, if blue and white were the color choices, one could order one set of checkers blue with white initials while the other set could be white with blue initials. As easy as it is to specify colors on our board it would be just as easy to specify custom designed checkers.

i've played with both flat and dimpled checkers and have to say i like both. Dimpled checkers seem easier to move while the classic look of flat checkers is preferred by others.

i would just like to get a feel before i drop the money for tooling on whether to make flat checkers or dimpled. if you have a preference please let me know.

Thank you - Tom Buckner

I understand the practical appeal of dimpled checkers but I much prefer the clean aesthetics of a flat checker. I vote flat.

Bill, since you're the only one that voted i'll make the tooling for flat checkers.

PS: On a side note I want to thank publicly Tom for being a great person to do business with. I have no financial interest in P-40, i'm just a customer and Tom and his staff have been the best work with going above and beyond. Their products and customer service are as good as it gets. I recommend to anyone thinking about a board to STRONGLY consider a P-40.

Hi Tom,

Is there any indication of when the new checker options will be available? I'm likely going to purchase a P-40 soon and figure it'd be worth it to wait for checkers that match perfectly.

i expect to get our first samples this upcoming week. if i approve then it's another two weeks to get the checkers (i have to buy in quantities of 10K) it will take another week to get the process down where we can customize to any color and add any logo if wanted to each and every checker. i would say mid January we'll have them.

if you want to order P40 before end of the year, i'll throw in a set of the new checkers customized to your liking at now extra charge when they come in and we're ready to take orders. Tell Nick in comments section about the offer i just made you and he'll give you a code to put in on your order.
