A documentary about Matvey "Falafel" Natanzon in six parts. Gives a good story on how he got hooked on backgammon and some insight into his life as a professional backgammon player.

Hey Bill, don't feel bad, every book I have read on backgammon and all the bots I have played set the board up wrong too!!!

Actually I have run into issues with other post from expert village on topics I know that have been wrong, they should rename themselves "ill informed village".This guy also has a "history of backgammon" video that screws up most of the history, including claiming that the name backgammon comes from Greek!

I hope this means we are going to see more of these being posted from the WSOB series. Andy if you are still reading this forum is that the case?

Caught that, also the description of a "backgammon" in that video is of a gammon, not of a backgammon.

yes indeed, the new online WSOB TV Channel, which you can reach at the following link, will be growing all the time now and will have shows from the pilot series in Monte Carlo in 2005 to the PartyGammon sponsored shows in 06 to our best content from Nordic and Cannes 08, sponsored by Partouche:

http://vimeo.com/channels/wsob

There are three shows on there already and more on the way this week, including WSOB Championship.

Glad you like it, please do feedback on the channel and let anyone you know who might be interested in this.

Mind Engagement Media filmed Backgammon Live in London last year, available at http://www.youtube.com/user/BackgammonLondon.

Andy didn't mention in his last post that he has a whole YouTube site of past footage at http://www.youtube.com/user/InesBell. Here's my favourite one where I got to have a private lesson with Mochy (we carried on for quite a while after the cameras stopped rolling...) http://www.youtube.com/user/InesBell#p/u/16/lD_TzrsW2nM

My website is http://www.mindengagement.com, where I will post more videos as we take them. Next project is the Nordic Open 2010!!

Does anyone know what time controls are used in the Sapporo Open? Watching the 2006 video is seemed like the players were using a lot of time compared to the WSOB videos, then in scene 2 of the 2007 it starts with a reference to the time remaining as 1:20 and 1:23. Seems like a lot more time than typical 2 minutes per point plus 12 sec delay.

About two and a half hours. Quite a lot of babbling and basic tutorials, but some interviews and the recorded play are interesting.

I don't have the answer, but I was wondering about that as well. Do you think they don't use any delay--just run it chess style?
