I'm not sure that your response stacks up very well. How do you know that he's lying while the people who wrote Holy Books weren't?

"Affecting the disposition of your soul" can mean almost anything. For example, if you're more inclined to believe authority-figures over the average person (on a forum), then there's no way at all in which his claims could possibly affect the disposition of your soul, is there? regardless of whether they're true or not.

By what consistently applied criteria can you differentiate between his claims and the Holy Book claims? and to what degree can you be certain of either?

I only asserted that I am 100% certain that he is lying.

Concerning the various "holy" books I not at all certain that they were not lying. In fact, I would go so far as to say that there are surely lies in there somewhere.

I think my response was very sound, unless you feel that my conclusion that he was lying is fundamentally unsound.

Taking this probably more seriously than it deserves, but no zumby wasn't lying. He said something false, but he wasn't trying to deceive you.

Forgive me for not reading thread apart from OP.

1. Yes.

2. I'm Irish and thus quite able to handle my drink. If I saw a ghost figure I'd be pretty sure if it was real and if so, no.

3. Hallucinogens are a whole different ball game. You could drop certains compounds and be absolutely convinced the drug induced reality is absolutely real knowing your high so I would not sign anything but instead injest a bunch of benzodiazepines.
