Hi xpaddingtonx:

If you're correct, then there is no reason for my starting this thread except to show that things are different from the way I understood them. However, I think you need to go back more than 40 years. Here's an example:

I do agree that starting around 40 to 50 years ago the views of Evangelicals did move to what you describe above, which I think is terrific.

Best wishes,
Mason

When I was a young man it was my impression that Evangelical Christians were not real happy with Jews and Israel, and the best example of this is Billy Graham bashing Jews on the Nixon tapes.

But today it's completely different and these same people, including Billy Graham's son Franklin, are now great supporters. So my question is: What brought about this dramatic change or did I misread the situation 40+ years ago?

And just so there is no misunderstanding, I'm very happy this has happened.

Given he has a newspaper column, you could ask Billy Graham.

The emphasis today on supporting Israel by these so called Christians can be attributed to Barack Obama. Evangelicals are primary targets of conservative politicos. Obama's tif with Netanyahu has inspired conservatives use that rif to get those southern Christians to show their hate of Obama through support of Israel. Bah humbug
