Deism is absolutely a subset of theism, since there only two catagories -- atheism, or theism. To say otherwise is ludicrous.

I have also shown that my beliefs are are a subset of Deism. Whether or not you can accept this reality really isn't my problem.

Are you really this dense? Of course deism is a subject of theism. However, when the subject of deism comes up (and subsequently, intervention) the word "theist" is used colloquially to mean "non-deist believer". The fact that you pretend not to acknowledge this is absurd.

No, no you haven't. I've provided definitions and the history of the word deism; you've provided assertions, nothing more. I'm flabbergasted that you can be provided with textbook definitions explaining how "deism" is defined and not bat an eyelash. This is incredibly dishonest.

Oxford Dictionary:
belief in the existence of a supreme being, specifically of a creator who does not intervene in the universe.

Merriam Webster:
a movement or system of thought advocating natural religion, emphasizing morality, and in the 18th century denying the interference of the Creator with the laws of the universe

RG - perhaps you could just briefly explain what you believe (forget the why for now, unless you want to include it), without going into detail. Just don't use the words deist, theist, atheist or any of their variations.

Definitions are important, but originally all I was interested in was your particular beliefs, and wasn't expecting a slight variation on the definition of atheism argument

In your mind, perhaps. Not in mine, or anyone else I know.

It's probably time to start a thread about Deism. You may do so if you wish, or I might do so tomorrow. Now? It's bedtime.

Yeah, just me and the dictionary again. The fact that you cannot grasp that theism can be defined broadly and specifically is incredible.

Oxford Dictionary
Theism: belief in the existence of a god or gods, specifically of a creator who intervenes in the universe

And pretending it's not used colloquially as I've stated is laughable.

RoundGuy: Hey man, are you a deist?
Believer: I'm a theist.
RoundGuy: I know, but are you a deist?
Believer: I'm a theist.
RoundGuy: I said I know, but are you a deist?
Believer: WTF, I said I'm a theist!

I'm saying I can read a ****ing dictionary. Am I speaking for everyone when I say a square is defined by having four sides?

Less semantics and more blasphemy imo
