Okay good question. I believe the universe is indeed intelligent for a ton of reasons. I'll try to simplify them as much as I can.
-Most obvious, we as human beings have a certain copacity of intelligence. Correct? well ask yourself? Where does this intelligence arise from. There must be a source.. Where does awareness arise from?
-What makes a human being different from an in animate object such as a rock, is it awareness/ intelligence copacity or both.
-What sparked life, whats its purpose. Everything in the universe in animate could be created through random process's and mutations, but what inspired it to have experience and adaption to itself.
-The development of different species accross this plantet took millions of years to reach the complexity of today, but there are certainly holes in our logic of explaining it all.
Im not saying i know the answers, but all im saying is theres something to gain and learn from all aspects of religion/ science and blending them rather than simply throwing away one or the other.
So back to your original question, I realize I got off on a tangent. My reasoning for belief in intelligent creation is simply because every ingredient within the soup must have source. If we contain intelligence within our being it must be created from intelligent ingredients that we simply don't have all the tools to fully understand at the moment. And awareness of this intelligence could only be beginning of a greater understanding of our being in the future.
