Well, I mean, it's not like the church is against black marriage. They're just for white marriage.

But anyways, this thread has nothing to do with religion. Racists are going to be racists, and some of them are going to be religious. But outside of the fact that these people are ALSO religious, I don't see the connection.

What do you mean? Religious people are always spouting how they are morally superior and tolerant.

Sure, and if someone from that church says that they are being hypocritical. But I don't see how this is the "hypocricy of religion". It is just racists being racist. And it is pretty damned rare to see such an egregious and explicit example of racism these days.

For those who don't read the article, here's the whole story, more or less:

"There has never been a black wedding at the First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Miss., since its founding in 1883. According to Pastor Stan Weatherford, some church members objected so strongly to breaking that precedent, they threatened to oust him from his pastorship.

Rather than risk his job, Weatherford, who is white, said he decided to marry the pair at a black church down the road."

Where's God's will? Where's the moral highground the religious always spout? I mean, if you don't get your morals from religion, where do you get them from?

Obviously, religion isn't exactly the moral compass in this instance. Maybe the religious can actually start to understand that it doesn't COME from religion.

Not all Christians are racist...but if you encounter a racist, chances are that he/she is a Christian.
