Beginning the Meaning Game
The yin-yang symbol can be thought of as the symbol for meaning. We can think of the light side as the side of ascension and the dark side as the side of descent. Another way to think of it is to equate the dark side with reality checks and the light side as anti reality check.

When you want to encourage a child in a sport or game, the best way to do it is to view it in terms of meaning. Entry into the meaning game always begins, visualizing the yin-yang symbol, at the fat part of the light side. In other words, the anti reality check side. A beginner in a game will have a high rate of failure. In order to persist, the beginner must aim to ascend beyond the current reality that insists they are a losing player.

In other words, for the young child who has just experienced a loss in a game that they are new to, the best response is not to share insight about why they lost. The more meaningful response is to highlight and amplify any positive moves in the game. Most people have this intuition. This amplification will lead to persistence and eventually ego inflation.

If you look at the yin-yang symbol, you will notice in the fat part of the light section there is a small, dark circle. This dark circle represents the call to the descent or reality check side. Once the child masters the anti reality check, persistence pattern, only then will the dark circle present itself and call out. The move is to then move from the fat to the narrow light section and pass through to the fat, dark section.

Meaningful Progress
Now, the best form of encouragement becomes amplifying the errors and mistakes made in the game. It is at this fat, dark section that the most improvement happens. Constructive self critique will increase along with growth for a period of time, which is highly meaningful and, as a consequence, salient to our awareness.

However, constructive criticism and improvement transitions (unnoticed) into verbal self flagellation, demoralization, and stagnation. When we get here, the next move is to look for the little, light circle and respond to its call through the narrow, dark section and back into the fat, light section. That is one revolution of the meaning circle. The pattern — although, experienced differently with each progression — simply repeats.

Symbols are created and used to hold meanings. My intention with this post is to infuse meaning into the yin-yang symbol.

Common Resistance Points
There are common resistance points which prevent meaningful progress. The initial, more obvious one is the resistance to the descent, or the denial of reality checks. This one gets so many people because it is in contradiction to the initial pattern conditioning of anti reality checks. Remember, denying reality is the entry point into the meaning game. When people get stuck here, often they will double down on ego inflation and over compensation.

Another common resistance point is in the fat, dark section. With this one, the person usually looks back at their time in the light section as an experience of naivety, foolishness, irrationality, and maybe even humiliation. Because of this, they blind themselves to the small, light circle and don’t respond to the call.

The best way to avoid getting stuck by a resistance point is to first assume that it is inevitable and then to understand that the impulse to protect yourself from a past mistake is what will blind you from what is calling you in the present. Eventually, the practice of auditing yourself for this protective impulse becomes a necessary habit.

Ironically, you and Fella-Gaga have one thing in common: You both enjoy blogging in RGT. (Although Fella-Gaga hasn't blogged here lately.)

I'm not being critical, just making an observation.

I prefer dialogue since it helps me clarify. I have mentioned this several times.

Most of the feedback is unhelpful. That’s to be expected. But sometimes it results in insight or improved articulation which makes it all worth it.

See, this is awesome. And I deleted 80% of it.
