While the atheists are on the topic of great theist songs:

If I ever came back to theism (splenour, gunth, etc. "YOU NEVER REALLY FULLY EMBRACED THEISM" yahyahyah) it would be because I love this song so much and it's one of my favorites ever.

Also, after hanging out with FIF a few times, I have to say they are some of the greatest people I've ever met and they are very, very good musicians.

Speaking of really cool Christian bands. I was bouncing around my house years ago to the OC Supertones (ska/punk). I was singing along to a song that I assumed was a love song (to a woman). At some point I realized I was tricked into singing a love song to God! Well played, Christians.

This is another song by the band since I couldn't find the one:
Supertones - Little Man

I saw a pretty great show quite a few years ago (I'm getting old ) that had Relient K, Supertones, and FIF. Still like them all.

when a band says theys are a "christian band" is that because the members that make up the band are christian, or because the songs are mostly about jesus and such?

WRT to those bands, it's kind of a mix of both. I'm sure all the members are Christian and while the majority of their songs are about Jesus and such, they have a bunch of other non Jesus songs:

At Least I'm Not Like All Those Other Old Guys

another of my favorites:

You Can't Handle This

The lead singer Reese Roper, has a biology degree from University of Denver so he's ironically a big science nerd which is reflected in a lot of their non Jesus songs.

Can I admit here that I've always kinda liked this song?

I caught the second to last FIF show ever in Minneapolis. They always end all of their shows with some a capella hymns and spirituals and it was one of the greatest things I've ever been apart of. The energy of knowing they were wrapping it up + my love for great old hymns just gave me goose bumps.

NO IT WASN'T THE HOLY SPIRIT

That's awesome. I think that I have only seen them once. There used to be (and there might still be) a big christian woodstock like music festival. A ton of bands and everyone just camped for like 4-5 days. I want to say I was like 15 or so at the time. It was pretty awesome. I think that was probably one of my most fond memories that does not involve drinking.

I used to go to a thing like that in/around Green Bay, WI. Sunshine Festival or something. Can't remember exactly. Do you remember a band called the Ws?

Yeah, I cannot remember what this was called either. It was a big travel around type deal so it might have been the same thing you are talking about.

I don't remember the W's. Maybe if I heard some of their stuff I might recognize them, but of the top of my head they are not ringing a bell.

Probably not. They were a smallish ska band that never really took off. Good stuff though. Probably my favorite little Christian band ever was Ska Skank Redemption. I don't think they're a band anymore but they had an awesome version of Over the Rainbow.

Something else to blame the Christians for:

Adam was walking around the garden of Eden feeling very lonely, so God asked him,
"What is wrong with you?"
Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to.
God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman.

He said,
"This person will gather food for you, cook for you, and when you discover clothing she'll wash it for you. She will always agree with every decision you make. She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will not nag you and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will never have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it.

Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?"
God replied, "An arm and a leg."
Then Adam asked, "What can I get for a rib?"

listening to catholic radio earlier and heard one of the most despicable ads i've ever heard. some pastor is holding an event on september 11th. the ad leads with some guy talking about what happened sept. 11th 2001 - a day in history we'll never forget. he then welcomes you to come listen to pastor so-and-so this sept 11th, which will be another day we will never forget.
