Christian-school-fires-pregnant
Woman asks school for maternity leave. School asks woman when she was married. She tells them. They ask if the baby was conceived before the wedding. (oddly, she answers) Request for maternity leave ends with her being fired. School then....

The school, which has strict morality rules, which ban teachers from ‘fornication’ before marriage, said Mrs Hamilton was informed of the values when she was hired as a fourth-grade teacher in January 2008.
My favorite part, the school response....

‘We request that Jarretta withdraw her complaint and consider the testimony of the Lord.’
I'm curious about the legality of this. Can a school have morality rules for its employees which if broken can trigger a firing? (can they counter national discrimination laws?)
Also- even if the school was within its right to fire her, I can't imagine they have the right to spread her personal information to the other teachers and parents?
(my x-post from politics) Not sure it merits its own thread here since IMO the only religious relevence is its an example of why I'm greatful we're not a theocratic state. Also, where's the Christian forgiveness? I'm betting there's plenty of immoral behaviour by all the teachers that could merit a firing.
