Actually an interesting question, but I don't think it is close. Though no hard data exists, gorillas are simply beastly strong on a completely different level plus it would be extremely hard to topple one. Make it a chimpanzee (far, far stronger than a comparable human, and much faster) and we have a discussion.

Supreme court denies certiorari to gay marriage cases, effectively meaning 5 more states immediately and a total of 11 in short order will be able to marry. This is very surprising (some reasons why listed here: http://www.scotusblog.com/2014/10/ma...e/#more-218576 ) as most presumed the court would take it up (and presumably rule in favour, probably nationwide).

My best guess at this point is that the intent of the court is to wait and see if a lower circuit ever rules against. While the decisions have been something like 41 straight for gay marriage in lower courts post windsor, it is still very possible one of the appeal circuits remaining could go against it. And then there would be a legitimate conflict in the lower courts that the Supreme Court would step in to solve. Certainly they have shown they are willing to take their time (could have done it for the california case, possible even windsor) so waiting until there is a conflict may fit with that.

I think the writing is on the wall, but it does beg the potential nightmare scenario: republicans win the presidency, ginsburg retires, anti-gay rights guy nominated, supreme court takes up court, upholds the idea of state bans and plunging all these marriages in the mid term into weird legal limbo. Thankfully, I think this is unlikely.

For now, if nothing else, we can take a huge win. Gay marriage is now the law of the land for majority of Americans.
