It's a book review rather than an article but seems a reasonable launching pad for all things Theodicy and Leibniz

Everyone knows Leibniz didn't write The Odyssey, it was Newton.

The Unbelievable Skepticism of the Amazing Randi

"When he was still a young man appearing in Toronto nightclubs and pretending to predict the future, Randall Zwinge created what he hoped would be his greatest trick. Each night before he went to bed, he wrote the date on the back of a business card along with the words “I, Randall Zwinge, will die today.” Then he signed it and placed it in his wallet. That way, if he were knocked down in the street or killed by a freak accident, whoever went through his effects would discover the most shocking prophecy he ever made. Zwinge kept at it for years. Each night, he tore up one card and wrote out a new one for the next day. But nothing fatal befell him; in the end, having wasted hundreds of business cards, he gave up in frustration. “I never got lucky,” he told me."

Ending the Teaching of Contempt against the Church’s Sexual Minorities

A talk given by David Gushee, a professor of Christian Ethics at Mercer University. The primary argument and analogy he makes is one I hadn't heard before. I thought it was worth a read (this is mostly aimed at Christians)

Nothing but for this wonderful anecdote.

According to the BBC News, "The three are expected to be formally charged next week and can face up to two years in jail."

Not strictly an RGT article but as much of the objections seem to come from religious organisations etc I thought it was relevant.

I actually found the comments section more interesting with their being a clear division in opinion between the highest/ lowest rated comments.

Sociologists: 'Christianophobia,' Anti-Christian Hostility Infects Powerful Elite Subculture

Quote:
In an email interview with The Christian Post, Yancey, professor of sociology at the University of North Texas, explained that Christians are fortunate in one sense, because those with anti-Christian hostility are small in number; but in another sense, they should be concerned, because those with "Christianophobia" tend to be powerful elites with influence in certain important areas, such as higher education.

The data for their research comes from a large national survey, the American National Election Survey, and interviews they conducted with members of liberal advocacy organization

Not sure if this was discussed anywhere, but Chomsky and Harris engaged in an entertaining exchange, or "non-interchange" (according to Noam) via email.

Really enjoyed the back and forth, and eerily reminiscent of exchanges I've seen on here, right down to the condescending tone, and talking right passed each other.

NR,

thanks for posting, that exchange was pretty amazing.

My favourite part was when Sam gets upset about Chomsky using the phrase "as you know" and then in the following email Chomsky uses the phrase again.

Glad you enjoyed it, I personally found it immensely entertaining, and I think "as you know" is worth stealing.

That forum is a little too hate-filled for my liking, plus the last time I posted there, I ended up having to defend accusations of me being racist, which I found especially ironic given that they assumed I was a white.

Fun (but flawed, imo) philosophical "experiments" and analysis, including belief in God.
