Tonights GOP debate brought up religion. Newt said you should not judge a person being a viable candidate based on their religious affiliation.

but he did say, paraphrased because I can't find the exact quote, 'It doesn't matter what faith you are. As long as you have faith in god you would be fit for office. Without faith, where would you get your morals from'

Oh Newt.

Thinking of sending him a link to RGT and asking him to poke around a bit

Hehe I was just referencing his multiple divorces which I don't actually give a **** about but is a common theme to mention regarding him...especially because of his social conservative leanings to typical "family values"

Tell him to just make up the "morals" as he goes along.
In fact if he wants to do well in politics just
tell people what they want to hear.

"How can you have judgement if you have no faith and how can I trust you with power if you don't pray?"

I really hate that he made that statement and think it is a very ignorant statement, however I think he was likely just trying to bolster Romney in the views of Republicans who might be against the fact that Romney is Mormon.

I wonder how it would go over if an atheist said someone with religious faith shouldn't be candidate.

No discrimination against atheists in the US, yeah sure...

-Gingrich has been married three times
-In the spring of 1980, Gingrich left Battley after having an affair with Marianne Ginther
-Six months after the divorce from Battley was final, Gingrich wed Marianne Ginther in 1981.[123][124][125][126] In the mid-1990s, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, who is 23 years his junior.
-Gingrich has stated that he has developed a greater appreciation for the role of faith in public life following his conversion, and believes that the United States has become too secular.(are ***** kidding me?)
-At a 2011 appearance in Columbus, Ohio, he said, "In America, religious belief is being challenged by a cultural elite trying to create a secularized America, in which God is driven out of public life"
