So i was thinking the other day about someone saying "were just pawns in a game" and it got me thinking, say that were true, were God's (whoever u choose, or w/e you call him or her) little pawns. And then i thought about, well, what if thats not good enough for me? what if i said "f u god!" and shot myself.

And then i pictured myself playing a game of chess. And as im about to move the first piece of the game, a pawn, it suddenly grows arms arms and hands, one of which is holding a gun. Then it says "AhhHA! I figured it out! I'm just a pawn in some stupid ****ing game!!" and it shoots itself in the head, falling over dead on the chess board.

And then i say .. "yeah, i mean, that's cool you figured it out and all but wtf... im trying to play some chess here"

i mean different people could see it different ways, but if i say how i see it it doesn't let people have an unbiased view imo, but i was thinking more along the lines of god makes man man makes chess piece. If that chess piece knows what i know, it's not going to spend its life being my slave and moving it where i place it, doing what i want it to do. So if we go up a step, and go to us, trying to "figure out what life is about", well, if i don't want my chess piece (that i made) to know what i know , then perhaps god doesn't want us (that s/he made) to know what he knows.

But I know the limitations of that chess piece because i created it, so i also know its not going to "figure it out" , but i don't want it to "figure it out" ... i want to play chess

unless god is playing the white pieces, then he gets to move first, and has an edge, but its so small its gonna take a long time to win?

Please learn English. Yes I understood that and explained the tongue in cheek nature of the avatar. It was indeed me who was "goen for christians taking the bible literally" when i choose the avatar. You really are boorish.

Your chess metaphor is rather confusing but i like the analogy of a religious world view leaving us as unimportant chess pieces which cannot do anything but follow the masters guidelines. I do not wish to be a pawn and so if this was the case I guess I would strive to grow limbs and spontaneously acquire a gun to top myself off in order to escape the board. Unfortunately their is then the afterlife which would be harder again to escape. You see why I'm confused?

As usual I am left feeling happy and utterly relieved that there is no God in control of/ surveying my every move.

Its not the letters that matter, its the thoughts. Its not what someone says as much as what they mean. imo. And the metaphor isn't some elaborate plan i put together to have crazy meanings, it was just a thought i had that i thought was funny. but i kinda disagree. if you want to play chess and move pieces yourself, you must also accept being moved.

What's the point?

If there is no point, then it's just a rambling and you shouldn't be surprised if nobody takes you up on it. If there is a point, then maybe you can make it more explicitly.

Why play a game when you know the outcome? It really doesn't seem that fun.

But let's go even a step further. You being the creator of your own chess pieces just isn't enough. If you say that you didn't want them (your chess pieces) to "figure it out", then you wouldn't have created them so that they could "try" to figure it out. Instead, you would have made them under the exact image of one who "just moved where you put it".

agreed. like how we are creating robots etc today? i mean, we want them to do good **** for us, but i mean... there's the potential for things to get out of hand, even though were trying to do good?
