Okay, people have had their fun, let's keep this thread on track with the original OP.

Another chance to play arm-chair physicist/philosopher in which I don't mind being corrected at all!

First, the Copenhagen Interpretation w/ it's wave collapse is not the only interpretation under serious consideration. I made a thread a while back about the Many Worlds interpretation bec Brian Greene (in The Hidden Reality) apparently favors it and it seems too incredible to believe, but who am I to argue w/ Brian Greene. At any rate, if I understand him correctly, wave function collapse does not appear anywhere in the math of QM.

OTOH, there is Henry Stapp's 'Mindful Universe' which, if I read him correctly, declares that the math of QM requires free choices in a stream of consciousness which is a comfort for those of us that would like to believe that we have free will and of necessity requires an observer.

Given that the status of the science is far from settled and also offers so many 'interesting' options it's fairly easy to come up w/ a gumbo and declare 'GOD!'

But, who knows, maybe they are right.
