But now you are extrapolating out one situation and applying it to all. There is no reason to believe that any of the other people's horrible disabilities were caused by God. It does not say that blindness is caused by God, but that this specific persons blindness was.
I really think this is stretching it a bit far, would you not at least agree that you can see where I'm coming from?

I personally think that if you change the word God to mean God's rules then it is an admission that these things can happen. But, it is not our concern to judge upon them and we have to be righteous regardless.

I am a little confused now. The quote that you are responding to does not really apply to what you are saying here. I agreed to an extent about what you said in the second part of your post. But my quote that you quoted was in regards to the thousands of people that have disabilities and God being a jerk.

Maybe you can clarify for me.

Oliver Sacks wrote about a case of this in, I think, 'An Anthropologist on Mars'. The blind man had adapted to life without sight and after his corrective surgery had found vision confusing and disturbing. He had to learn things that we take for granted, like depth perception. In the end he regretted the surgery, preferring to 'see' things through sound and touch even though his eyes were working.
