Did God say this?
Teach me about the bible plz. I know that Moses, allegedly, got the ten commandments handed down to him from God. But that'd make for a pretty short book. What about the rest, where does that come from? It says in the bible for example that homosexuality is a sin, but did God really say that? If yes, in which way was this communicated to humans, and if no what's it doing in the bible?

No not "The End"
I was really enjoying your "Cliff notes" version of the Bible and you stopped at Exodus.
SwedishMedusa if you want to learn about the Bible I advise you go to every Church near you and speak to the people there. I'm sure they can help you and give you a copy of the Bible.

Learning about the bible from a church is flawed. Use wikipedia, at least they have to cite their sources.

Re: Did God say this?
I can't quote the source off of the top of my head, but I believe it's in leviticus. God delivers the levitical law to Moses, which is pretty painstakingly recorded, then re delivered line by awkward line from Moses to the Israelites.
The mention of homosexuality is -as best I can recall- a man is not to lie with a man as a woman. I believe he established the penalty as death as well.
This stance on homosexuality is touched on in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis, an almost duplicate story in one of the other old testament books, and in Pauls writings.

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.(Leviticus 18:22 King James Version)*
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.(Leviticus 20:13 King James Version)*
My favorite death penalty in the Bible is - Numbers 15:32-36.
Picking up sticks on the Sabbath.
*By posting this I am in no way agreeing with putting homosexuals to death.

I would like to follow up on this: If you just want the white washed version of Christianity where they will not address the flaws of its foundation go to a church. If you want the truth study it yourself, when you have questions feel free to go speak with a pastor and an intelligent atheist.
Make the decision yourself after looking at all the facts.

Re: Did God say this?
There are lots more places in the Bible where homosexuality
is condemned, Leviticus is just one of many.
In addition, every major religion condemns the practice.
Every major religion also condemns homosexuality. In 1996, the Dalai Lama affirmed Buddhism's traditional opposition to homosexual activity, concluding that "a sexual act is deemed proper when the couples use the organs intended for sexual intercourse and nothing else. Homosexuality, whether it is between men or between women, is not improper in itself. What is improper is the use of organs already defined as inappropriate for sexual contact." The Dalai Lama's position is similar to that of the Roman Catholic Church and many Protestant denominations, who condemn sodomy as sinful, but call for compassion for persons with homosexual tendencies. The very dignity of such persons, however, necessitates that they refrain from activities that would debase their humanity. Jewish law also condemns homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13), as does the New Testament (1 Corinthians 6:9). Similarly, the Koran prohibits homosexual relations, referring to those who commit such deeds as "(grossly) ignorant" and a "people transgressing (all limits)." Hindu tradition also defines sodomy as an "unnatural offense."

Re: Did God say this?
Thanks guys. So basically Moses writings should be considered to be the words of God bc God communicated with him.
Homosexuality was just an example but I have to say that the Dalai Lama has weird ideas about how gay people have sex... Not all gay men have anal sex, and I think most lesbians don't.
So basically he is saying that oral sex, hand jobs/fingering and touching her boobs while having straight sex is immoral? Heck even kissing is out the window? Because then you are using organs that were not meant for intercourse. And who told the Lama this?
Pretty much only glory hole sex would be fine because then it's only the sexual organs involved.
Lamas and organs itt imo.
