I'm inclined to say idolize and worship are pretty distinct. They were probably closer in the past, but I think what was originally a derivative usage has probably become the standard definition.

-what if a suicide bomber met up with some atheists and scientists
-the atheists and scientists would want to live
-therefore, god exists

.. Why does it always sound like We have different meanings for words and You're always using the 'right' one?

Don't you remember it was YOU who came up with

'true=beneficial' and 'reasonable=happy-making' ?

I pointed out that 'sound judgement' should be an appropriate/common meaning for reasonable.

Concerning the OP argument: just because people get scared and start to hope/believe in fairy tales when its time, it doesn't mean that the fairy tales are reality.

.
See, its something like hope. Might be true that indeed most people start believing when things get messy but
that's just a natural human weakness.
So while you think the word/argument 'destroys atheists', it would also 'destroy' every other human. (Can't tell me every believer believes strongly enough to be 'invulnerable')

Everybody gets scared when facing death (more or less) and besides, hoping for the best doesn't equal believing in allah.

Based on the OP I'd say the word is "bomb" and not "death".

Furthermore; If in a bomb-close-to-me scenario I have to choose between the people who does not accept that bomb equals death and the ones who do, I'll go with the ones who don't.

Lastly I think the hypothetical kamikaze bomber's somewhat garbled speech with Jesus constitutes a rather hopeful argument.

One scientist after the other talks about his discovery and its importance for the mankind (hahahahhahah). And the atheist clap their hands and look to be very happy.
Now all of the sudden everything seems to become darkness. All of the sudden they feel that a Kamikaze bomber is between them. They all fall on their knees, they cry like little babies for that the kamikaze bomber will save them. Everything what seemed to be important for them, now they give a rat about it. One of them says please, I have children, the other one says, I have still to finish so many projects, and the Kamikaze bomber says: Get out of my way, you dumbs! Its time to go.
Now another Kamikaze bomber goes to Jesus. Jesus directly looks in his eyes. The Kamikaze bomber becomes fluffy knees. Jesus says to him, It was God who did create you, God loves you too my son, I don't fear death, You don't need to come to me and take me in your arms, I come to you and take you in my arms.
Open your eyes Mr., open your ears Mr.: Those who believe, they only know love. They only know burning in Love. Back and forth, Up and down, Health and disease, Death and Life, there is no difference for them, they only live in God. They are invulnerable.
"Death" was the first word I thought of too in the few seconds after seeing
the title of the thread. I would likely think of a better story.

Atheist or theist, scientist or not, all will know that physical death is not the
end.

Since you constantly refuse to clarify your terms unless some given definition could be used as an argument IN RETROSPECT, it is really completely uninteresting what you take key words to mean.

It is also pointless to pose sensible counter-arguments since you will respond with claims that "this proves your point" or some randomly chosen insults.

I suggest we define "to worship" to mean "to eat cookies" and proclaim your argument to be fattening.

why is everybody giving this guy so much attention? there are plenty of religious persons that are far more interesting to debate with than this fellow imho ...

sometimes i get the feeling that people like shahrad and hardcore atheists really need each other to feast on. Shahard would probably be lost if he'd encounter non-religious people that are openminded, humble, kindhearted and doubtful by nature. It goes the same way the other way around oddly enough. Lots of posters seem to need guys like shahrad to glorify their position that you must be mindnumbingly moronic to be a religious person.

easy... people give this guy attention because normally we're only exposed to Christian nonsensical ranty types. This is a rare chance to discuss the rantings of an Islamic holy-roller type. (so far, its a little more arrogant, has poorer english but links to some nicer pithy sayings once in awhile.)

Most people don't have to read all the people listed above to explain why they don't have a belief in invisible men in robes living in the clouds. Smart people can reach that conclusion without all that research.

Imagine you have to read all of that studying to come up with, "I don't see any evidence for invisible supermen. Therefore, I don't currently believe there are any."
