I don't think "manipulation" should be illegal, nor do I think it is necessarily immoral. I don't see why it matters if the person doing it is a felon or not.

It's becoming more than a guess isn't it. I predicted it several days ago! Pretty soon it will be a belief and finally...

Unless of course you start providing something useful instead of just meaningless babblydooplypooopoooo. Shout evidence but do not back it up, way to go!

Manipulation in it broadest term could be meaningless depending on the action. But psychological and/or emotional manipulation to gain something from somebody, such as money is in my eyes immoral, borderline criminal. Couple in that those people that are victim to such crimes are often not 100% in the head then it becomes a crime in my opinion.

Reading comprehension fail. You don't know how much delight I get in seeing this happen to you over and over again. I enjoy it even more because it only serves to highlight the abject lack of intellectual integrity you bring to the table.

Here's what I said of you:

And you wish to say that I've said something of myself. By the way, did you literally find the place where I literally said something yet?

Coming from the guy who has made several false claims throughout this thread. If only you can see the fear in my eyes as my worldview crumbles into little pieces right in front of me.

Learning is useful. Making false claims is not. I'm not bothered by you as much as you are bothered by me. I can tell you're bothered because you can't even bring yourself to admit your basic intellectual errors. I'm still just waiting for you to talk about your Santa Claus presentation. I've been waiting for a while. You won't do it because you're too afraid to admit error. Once you admit error, who knows what else you might learn. But you're not here to learn anything. Nope. Where did you ever say that you were?

But if you're really not afraid to learn, then let's start with Santa Claus. Do you even agree with what you wrote?

Aren't you describing almost all advertising? Do you also think Google is an immoral company for trying to manipulate people into buying stuff through their ads?

I hate adverts. The spam emails I get just so I buy something is ridiculous. Dumb **** like owh Mr X we missed you, thought you might want to have a look at our latest range of TV's. Yeah right you missed me!!!

But adverts are not exactly the same, at least if you spend money you get something in return. That's not the case when you hand your money over to some bogus minister/church who promises to help the needy, but secretly is living the high life!

Priceless!
I'm not challenging your world view, I'm trying to hear about it. But you are too paranoid and you think you must rage war in this forum with me. Have you not noticed how I am not engaging with you, I am not interested in your little back and forth but you continue with every post. Pretty hilarious but absolutely pointless! I just think troll, is all.

And you guys are the predators of this thread? Would you agree that you are more or less a predator irl too? Not so much Angelic or a creation of God but just an evolved monkey/predator? Not a peaceful human being but more a vicious animal looking for it's next prey to kill.

I think it's a poor analogy. It's more like this.

I'll let you figure out which you are. But I'll give you a hint. You're not the guy holding the camera.

You guys? I'm not engaging with you. Perhaps a better analogy:

If you were on Survivor, you'd be blindsided just before the merge.

Or

If you were on America's Got Talent, you would have two judges who buzzed you.

Or

You'd be like the kicker who is going for a 50-yard field goal that has the distance but it shanks and hits the upright.

All this to say you aren't the worst I've seen but you do seem to be outclassed despite your efforts. Not meant as an insult so much as my view of who is winning the discussion. I won't even call it a debate because you guys just keep going in circles.

Incidentally, what does being a Christian have to do with being Angelic? Angels are Heavenly creatures totally separate from humans.

So yes, my view is that tithing as charity is a good thing and tithing as paying for church is an ordinary consumption expense.

I don't have a problem with people making money. A lot of people think it is somehow hypocritical or immoral for ministers to have a high income. It might be hypocritical, but I don't see why it is immoral. I don't think it is immoral for movie stars or executives to make a high income, not sure why I should have a different view of ministers.
Fair enough. My bad.

Regarding Peter Popoff and the like- it is surely immoral to charge a consumer money for an unsubstantiated good or service?

His (supposed) service is to act as an intermediary between god and members of his paying congregation. In all human probability, he doesn't deliver on this.

He gets away with this in a legal sense using the label of religion. Of course the moral question is a very separate one and I think I know how to test it on you- would you be okay with a grieving family member or close friend paying money to Popoff for his "reads"? You might initially be okay with it- especially if it seems as though the person is becoming relieved of their grief. But what if this person had become hooked into the scheme and was paying larger and larger payments to Popoff. At what point would you say that these payments are way too high I.e. Popoff is acting immorally in taking these payments?

Also I agree that actors are paid way too much. But they do deliver a good or service (a point of difference on Popoff) and are paid an amount that the market dictates. Exceptional actors are much rarer than labour workers and the movie industry is a potential gold mine - both considerations give rise to a high salary set for good actors.

Fair enough, it's in the bible so it must be true.

Another thing. In the bible it says that the earth is 6000 years old. Do you believe that too?

I mean you throw that statement out there like you are certain of Angels. Yet you have no evidence? Have you got any?

But really, all you've done is to continue to demonstrate your propensity for making claims that aren't accurate. I know you can't cite the chapter and verse because the Bible doesn't make that specific claim. The claim is inferred from various assumptions made about how one should read the Bible, and those assumptions are not shared among all those who read the Bible.

I don't expect you to learn from this error. So I'll just wait for you to make the next false claim and just point it out when it happens. If you stay involved in your current conversation, I'd expect that it will happen in less than a week.

We both know the Bible makes a ton of false claims! Don't start denying that!

I thought every Bible starts with the World is 6000 years old. I haven't read Bible for over 25 years, but I believe it was on the first page, back then. Probably before you were even born! They might of revised them by now!
