I assume it has something to do with horse racing, owners or part owners usually have stables of horses and enter them into races they think they have a good chance of winning.

Need help!

I'm in the US and have German roommates that want to back me in a couple of tournaments. Does anyone know the process in dealing with foreign/german backers and the tax issues that comes along with it If I score $5000 or more.

I know I should fill out the IRS form 5754 and i'll get separate w-2 forms. But my german roommates are just here as foreign exchange students with visas and tell me they don't have to pay taxes which is true because Pius Heinz didn't have to pay any tax due to the US-German tax treaty on poker winnings

Can anyone help me out with this. Thanks!

Germany has a tax treaty with the US, so he won't need to pay taxes on his share of the winning. I don't know the exact form, but all you'll need to properly file is his name, address, and how much of the score was his.

Yea Doggz, I was searching through google and found this on pokerfuse about tax implications on staking activity: http://pokerfuse.com/features/in-dep...king-activity/, by Brad Polizzano. After reading it a couple of times it confuses me what papers to fill out. It seems rather tedious to deal with foreign backers in live tournaments; a lot of paper work and logistics. Do you understand what B. Polizzano is advising?

How do you try and get staked/backed without having references? You can't get references without being staked/backed but you can't get staked/backed without having references. I'm lost there.

Be good at poker and/or accept smaller stakes than you'd actually like to eventually play.

Of course it is.
You should be able to find a backer - offering them a lot of personal info might help with any trust issues that they may have.

Hello, I'm sorta new to this whole Stake thing, I've not played many games says my Pokerrankings, and I've made about $1000 in the two years, this year I've only played 172 games with IMT 9% which for a backer is bad. Now, I've had a downswing on stars for the few months, so I took a brake. Now I am back and ready.

How do I get someone to back me with my stats so low?

Why would someone back you if you aren't winning?

yes true, but I am back now, and I was in a tourny a few hours ago and won it. So I'm starting to win. So how do I get someone to help me?

Apply to one of the backers who offer coaching as well as backing. You can also keep some of your action

So my friend is back by an backer for 1 site with contract.

Now he want to add another site to reduce variance.
He asked the backer if its ok to find another backer for another site or the backer
can back himself if he want.

Backer reply "i dont like you to search for another backer", i can back you there.
Then 30min later backer decide not to back there because he thinks the site is a cheat from reading forums.

Then week later the backer trade money for that called cheat site and my friend found out by reading on the forum he did a trade

Is it ethical to look for another backer for a different site that is not in the contract?

If his backer opts not to back his player for games, the player can play the games on his own or find someone to back him into those games.

Would you guys acept this contract? The 16º point of the contract is usual? For me is weird to not say more...

16th point of the contract is not usual at all. It's nearly a scam. You are basically getting staked with your own money. I wouldn't sign this contract.

Also please out the backer who would require such a scam contract.

A couple of years ago a thread was put up on 2+2 looking for people to invest in sharkstaking. The investment went fine, didn't make any money but just as it was about to end BF hit and alot of the investment got stuck on FTP.

As FTP is just about to come back online I need to get in contact with them about getting the rest of my investment back, but they don't seem to be replying to my email. Management changed during the last 2 years so I don't have any other contact details other than their admin email on their website.

If someone could get me in contact with the appropriate people, it would be appreciated.

I am about to start staking someone for live cash games and was wondering what is the best way to go about determining when profits are split. We are going to do 50/50 with makeup. Is it best to split every session/every week/every month? Don't have any experience with this so any input would be appreciated.
