A legal question, any lawyers on this forum?

- Does it matter who you accept a stake from?

- a person in a state (like Utah) in which gambling is not legal?
- an underage person?

To clarify - my questions are what are the legal qualifications of a backer? Are there any?

I'm sure this is somewhere but I can't find it -- In a one off buying a piece situation, how does the entry fee factor in in a typical arrangement?

Say the tournament is 500+60 and i sell a 100 piece. Did I sell 1/5 my action or 1/5.6?

I am currently in a staking deal and would like to leave it early. The original deal was for my backer to take 50% of my action over a fixed number of hours of live play. I've played 1/6 the agreed upon number of hours. So the staking agreement is still worth a considerable amount to him in EV. Is there a standard way to decide how much I should pay him to be unbound from the agreement?

Hi

I never been staked but I've staked my friend before for $70 and got $180 back in 1week. Im wanting to get staked but dont really understand how it works, my sharkscope : http://www.sharkscope.com/?username=...earchtype=SNGO and im pretty confident beating my level which are 5 husng in skypoker, Im wanting to take shot at the next level which are 10+0.50 husng but a bit of a nit with bankroll so can anyone explain what I should do to get staked and stuff? Bit difficult especially since I'm not known but some guidelines would be helpful because I have 0 clue ATM.

Thanks
Kind regards
Lee

Re: ***Official Staking Discussion Thread: Use this thread for staking advice/questions***

I have a question about how makeup generally works. Before today I thought that staking meant that the staker supplies the stakee with a bankroll, and if that backee loses the roll (within the terms of the agreement) because of a downswing / not being +ev at higher stakes then he didn't have to pay it back, and if he was profitable he would pay the backer 50% of his winnings.

Basically I thought staking was meant to minimize risk for the stakee so that he could play higher stakes in exchange for giving up 50% of his profit if he was profitable.

Anyway my question is if you go into makeup do you have to pay back the makeup at the end of the staking arrangement?

With the TCOOPS coming up i want to play some events which are not part of the deal (i am staked for HUSNG) and i am not intended to use the stake money for that. But is it fair to use my part of the profit split for this (without being in make-up ) and play events 100% for myself as long as it's profits and not his money?

1/5.6

If you didn't agree anything before hand you have to decide a buyout with him, as you have played so little, him asking for a large % of profits is not unreasonable. I would just play out the rest of the hours.

No, but you cannot leave a stake until you have made any makeup back, or until a backer drops you. If you want to leave a stake at any time, you can buy out your makeup.

Discuss with your backer first and show him that you have your own funds in the account to play with. If the games are outside of your staking agreement then fine, if they are not then your backer probably has the right to your action.

Re: ***Official Staking Discussion Thread: Use this thread for staking advice/questions***

Hello folks,

I have been with 2+2 for a few years now, but unfortunately due to workload, I am a limited user.

I have many live and online players that are goods friends and right now I want to post a BAP (Buy a Piece) for events coming up in February at Fallsview in Niagara Falls and the Seneca Deepstack Tour.

It would be appreciated if someone can offer some friendly guidance as to how I could post my BAP?

Thanks

Re: ***Official Staking Discussion Thread: Use this thread for staking advice/questions***

hello guys
this might be a silly question but i need to make sure before i get staked
which offer is better for both ?

Contract between A(backer) and B(backee)

A with decent cash also better poker player
B online micro stakes (0.1/0.25~0.25/0.5) having hardtimes in stars.

1. A gives $1000 and B plays poker with it and promises to return it with interest
(20~30%) in two or three weeks
B is capable of bringing some cash on his own but currently in short of money
so B gurantees 100% of $1200~1300. and risk is on his own

2. A gives $1000 first and promises to stake him continuously, even though it gets deeper.
B plays poker with A's money and share 50 50% winnings with A
B agrees to play poker only when A watches behind(through internet or whatever)
this type of deal ends either A says no more or B reaches $3000
(which comes after B wins 6K total with A's money)

which one of this is better ? i'm B in this case .

To make a BAP thread on 2+2 you need Marketplace Approved status.
See here.

Also, considering your posting record you will likely receive a response such as this:
"The Marketplace was originally set up for the benefit of regular forum users.
At this time you don't have enough recent posting or forum activity on this site for your account to be given approval.

It is recommended that you contribute more to the forums and reapply in a month or two."
