hi all,
1st post on 2+2 as i heard pocket fives suck for advice. Anyway im playing a small £50 freezout at my locally poker club 10k starting chips half hour clock so nice and deep. Im in MP with 88 utg+1 rasies to 1200 blinds at 200-400 he is quite aggro i just elect to call with bout 16k in my stack. Flop comes A69 rainbow. He checks which is rare so i check behind turn is an 8. He bets 1500 and i raise to 6k he flats, now i think he has two pair because of check on the flop. River is an ace i was just going to flat a bet from him as i fort he could have housed up. He checks so i bet 4500 as a vaule u bet he then raises me all in which is a about another 4500. I call he flips over A6 for bigger full house. Can i check behind on river or fold to his raise and did i play the hand wrong in any other way.
Cheers kidwilby

I think there is no way u can ck this river behind. He is sacrificing value on the river by not betting, you are sacrificing value too most of the time by not betting that boat there.

The question you have to ask your self is the initial failure to bet on the flop. You said this is unusual for him. The final A is a danger card. Although, you are probably ahead with what hands can he be reasonably acting (calling or raising) .

10 7
9 9
6 6
A *
A A
A 9
A 6
A 8

You are only beating A* and 66 and why if he has just A with a kicker did he not bet the flop. So this means that the money hand would be 6 6.
This early in the tournament just take the chips if you think you are ahead.
You only get paid on one probable hand and it is enough to make him feel sick for letting you hit your trips.

Where you should perhaps be betting stronger is on the turn.
