Contest: Replace the GBU

Hi all,

There's another thread in here with a proposal to bring back the GBU. We're not going to do that right now, but we're more than willing to put up something similar. The only thing is, we can't decide on what exactly we want to do, so we're bringing it here to you.

The rules:

1. It has to be good for noobs.
2. It has to be something that is easy to market (strong, clear message).
3. It has to have a clever name.
4. It cannot be based on rake.
5. It cannot be so generous that we would have to reduce the Races or take away the First Deposit Bonus to run it.
6. Preference will be given to classic movie themed ideas.

The carrot:

Whoever has the winning idea will get to keep that promotion for 6 months, regardless of when the promotion starts and ends for other players.

I'll need these by 9am EST on Friday in order to compete.

Post all suggestions and questions here, please.

Best regards, and good luck!
Lydia

Re: Contest: Replace the GBU

- One smaller HAND Race (instead of RAKE race) for players that play smaller and can't compete in the rake races.
- Aces never lost is always good.
- More frequent reload bonus.
- Trade X LinxPoints for cash.

All this are good for noobs, like me.

Edit:

I already post this in the Reward Shop thread but:

Hand Races:

The small stakes players can't compete in a rake race (10c 20c 50c), or at least its VERY hard, but can compete in a Hand Race, NoIQ for example have a new small Hand Race for players who play lower and the normal Rake Race. The players who cash in the Rake Race are excluded for the hand race.

I would love to see something like this at Eurolinx.

The name could be... hmmm... Micro Race.

Re: Contest: Replace the GBU

ok i will think of a few for you lydia, im assuming you mean 9 am EST TODAY, not next friday, if you mean today then this is all i could come up with before i went to bed (its midnight here )

something along of the lines of 'Triple Poker Prestige/Royalty month' at eurolinx, where you could use the picture cards in the marketing alot with bright flashy colours and highlight the 'glamour' of poker etc...i think that alot of noobs will respond to this because i always remember the excitement of getting picture cards when i was first starting poker- they always meant i had a better chance of winning- and new players always over value picture cards lol.

-If you lose with any set (3 of a kind) of 'picture cards' at showdown then you are given the pot up to $25. But it has to be a set, not 'trips' ie: you have to hold QQ in your hand and spike a Q, not hold KQ and the board come QQ3 etc..

-If you lose with KKK to AAA, or QQQ to KKK, or JJJ to QQQ,(or any higher set holding JJJ or QQQ, KKK) etc.. you get the above bonus but also triple the rewards points for the hand.

- if you lose with any of the above sets to a four of a kind, you get a pot sized bonus up to $25

-if you lose with 2 pair that include 2 picture cards in your dealt hand at showdown(ie KQ on a board of KQ49, then you get a bonus up to $25

-something that includes players who lose with a flush over flush or set over set etc..(make a minimum like a 10 high flush that loses to a bigger flush gets 50% of the pot back etc..) or a minimum of a set of 8's losing to a bigger set etc... gets 50% of the pot back..
i think that things like this would encourage players to gamble alot more and they wouldnt fold their pocket pairs as much if they felt more confident about hitting a set.

-and if you get four of a kind, you get a $25 bonus and you go into a draw to win another prize (playstation or a TV or something?). each new week of the month there will be a new draw?

i think something along these lines would be good because:
*they seem fun and enjoyable and would probably create alot of action and get players excited to play picture cards.
*would probably cost you guys less than the AA promo did because i think most of these hands are alot harder to get than AA vs random all ins at showdown spots.

youre GBU promo was fantastic, i just finished a media degree at uni so this stuff is interesting to me- and i was very impressed by whoever ran that campaign.

Re: Contest: Replace the GBU

Name of the promo: Two King Kong's for the win!

Description: You win with 2 King Kong's at the showdown (ie making quads with pocket Kings) and Eurolinx double the pot.

And of course with term and conditions, you adjust to make it match with your budget (size of the pot,...), or you give a fixed amount instead,...

And it is related to a classical movie... King Kong...

Re: Contest: Replace the GBU

GBU was excellent for all players but the fact that you had to write a support email probably distracted new (new to poker) players because they don't have tracking problems for hand numbers etc.
Maybe automate it somehow and the promotion will explode .

I like the name; but how about anytime you lose with KK to AA. We should all learn as poker players to lose with AA, its part of your growth as a player... But loosing with KK vrs AA (all-in preflop) is way worse.
Since this doesnt happen much maybe make it like 50% of what ever limit you are playing or 25$...
Ie: 50nl and smaller = 25
100nl=50
400nl=200.
(FYI4EL: this occurance should only happen about 1:7500 @ 6max on the table as a whole)

Re: Contest: Replace the GBU

Heres my suggestion to pick and choose from:

The James Bond Bonus Boom! (or something spy related if you cant use the James Bond name)

Casino Royale: Make a Royal Flush and we'll double the pot!
Thunderball: Sometimes poker is like a lottery, the chances are slim but running your Kings into Aces is always painful. Ease it with a refund up to $50.
Diamonds are forever: Win a showdown with 97 of diamonds (or other hand of eurolinx choice) and we will double the pot.
The World is not enough: Not happy enough about winning with quads? Then we will match the pot up to $50
Die another day: We'll get you next time Bond! Won a showdown with 72o, then we'll match the value of the pot up to $50
