Incidentally, I just watched the 30 for 30 doc on the Knicks/Pacers series in the mid-90s. And the whole time all I could think was "Thank God for Hakeem Olajuwan."

I remember when Reggie Miller hit those two three pointers within seconds of each other to tie the game (the year after the season depicted in the 30/30 series I believe) and I was holding my oldest child (baby at the time) and almost dropped him because I was jumping up and down yelling.

In Jordan's last year with the Wizards, I went to my first NBA game. Wizards/Pacers in Indianapolis. Pacers won, Jordan scored like eight points, and Reggie Miller was clearly a douchebag even to this 15yo observer in the nosebleeds. It was depressing as hell. But I got to see Jordan live, goddammit.

Leslie Stahl said it is better to have the SSRI's in severely depressed patients. I think the more accurate way of interpreting the literature available right now is it is more effective in EXTREMELY severe patients.

The work from so many places but maybe the most important being Martin Seligman is that depression really is as depression does. If you move. You get less depressed. If you move faster, you get still less depressed. If you can mock a genuine smile, (with the eyes squinted and insides of the eyebrows pulled down as well), you get much less depressed within a minute. If you do heavy compound multi-joint training or metabolic training that drastically affects EPOC...you get far less depressed within like an hour...as opposed to two weeks later for the serum level to become therapeutic from SSRI's.

Amazing stuff. Nobody needs to tell me about how crippling it can be. But, it really can be changed quickly with no negative side effects for the vast majority of patients.

What did Miller do that was douchie? I don't think he ever cared for Jordan. Miller got kicked out of a game once when Jordan scratched him like a little girl across the face. I don't think he ever forgot about that

Barkley, now there's someone to see live

Barkely was the best dog ever on Sesame Street.

In terms of douchyness Jordan is the GOAT.

He's a dude that took the game seriously when it needs to be taken seriously and didn't when it didn't need to be. He was great.
