Don't know if this belongs in the economics section or the philosophy section, or whether I should do a lengthy post. So, I'll put it here.
My view is that organized religion is inheritantly fraudulent. People make erroneous decisions based on a guarantee in the afterlife. This essentially creates a non-existent real estate bubble in heaven (and hell). Isn't it time to prosecute the televangelist, or the faith healer, or the pastor who accepts the donations from old ladies? Isn't the level of fraud quantifiable, and impact on the economy somehow measurable? My take is that as soon as you're selling houses from heaven, you should be deemed as a fraud, and committing acts of fraud based on how big of a house you try to build there, and then sell to old ladies, and dumber people.
