WSOP 10/25 sick spot on paired river

Villain is mid-20s Scandinavian, cbets a lot but haven't seen him 2barrel OOP until this hand, his opening range in MP is slightly looseish..
Hero a few min ago c/r flop vs cbet then c/rAI on the turn on coordinated board vs villain's friend at the table who folded(they're friends but haven't been talking much and don't softplay fwiw), otherwise I haven't shown down hands except winners. Has seen me call cbets a few times IP and once raised turn 2barrel other times folded on the turn.

Villain knows I play online because someone had asked me how to deposit/withdraw from a Euro site in Asia and I explained it.

OK onto the hand...

Villain $7,000
Hero covers

Villain in MP opens to $100, Hero flats JT OTB, BB(old nit) completes

Flop ($310) A 8 6

BB checks, Villain cbets $175, Hero calls in rhythm, BB folds.

Turn ($660) J

Villain 2barrels $250, Hero raises to $850, Villain thinks for 2 min then calls.

River ($2,360) J

Villain pretty quickly reaches for cash and counts 30 bills($3K) and bets that amount... Hero...

If this came from an older nittier player I'd suspect a fullhouse a much higher % of the time than coming from villain... also his betting rhythm didn't suggest that of a monster IMHO... our hand is very disguised esp. since we raised the turn and if he was 2barreling with Ax he would think that blocks out our AJ combos... and of course his river betsize is interesting too..

Re: WSOP 10/25 sick spot on paired river

you made your hand look like a flush draw or AJ by raising the turn and now he bets. are you asking on whether or not to shove? I'd call pretty quickly given his river sizing. if he bet smaller shoving would be better.

terrible turn raise though since I find it very unlikely for him to fold a better pair here on the turn. accomplishes nothing but throwing money in at 30% (unless you had a sick read that he would rebluff the turn since you rep nothing).

I'd expect to see {AK,AQ,A8,A6} here quite a bit, as well as some random missed draws.

It's hard to flop a set in holdem, and it's hard for him to have the case jack.

I think I have to call.

Seems pretty polarizing.

Just call. Don't see a point to shoving. What worse hand value bets river like this?

Re: WSOP 10/25 sick spot on paired river

he prob has AJ but you still call. dont like the raise on turn, gets him to fold all his bluffs and you open up the chance of getting shut out of a spot where you dont wanna be shut out of.

turnraise is pretty terrible with no sick history which makes you think, that hes gonna 3bet the turn light...

dont see any reason to fold or raise the river...

Prolly better to raise turn on a 8o, 9o, or 5o.... Thoughts?

As played... I'd call. Trips, ldo.

well played- now call expecting to see snap muck

i like the raise on turn as long as you follow through with non ace rivers.

Re: WSOP 10/25 sick spot on paired river

as far as his river bet sizing I don't know what he expects to get value from unless he puts you squarely on Ax with a non playing kicker or something.

don't think I see any sense in raising and would be inclined to call.

his turn sizing is also weird - the whole line just looks stranger and stranger. seems he's removing the top spectrum of hands from his range with that turn size.

so yah - I'm gonna stick with call and expect something like Ax. Perhaps trying to push out a chop maybe with the river bet?

I dont like the turn raise on the Jx. Even if you are planning on raising the turn and bombing the river to fold Ax.. this line is probably not going to work vs this type of player on a super drawy board on a Jx turn. If your planning on raising the turn and bombing the river I can only see him folding a heart. In which case you want a call..

Masa, I like raising the turn/bombing river on a To/9o/5o/heart.

I'd rather raise flop than turn. River is a call. what a weird line from the guy. If he had AJ he should be ch/raising river.

Re: WSOP 10/25 sick spot on paired river

tmckendry, yeah I agree.. I think messed up To, 9o, 5o are optimal to raise turn. 8o not so much, and Jo too.

As for river, I guess everyone agrees its a call. It's just so so weird if he has us beat...

results? (by PM?)
