nope and won't be for awhile. this could be the beginning of the end if this goes on much longer. losing patience with the bull**** that started 10 months ago. other professions starting to look more appealing, might be time to put my degrees to work.

Doesn't hurt to polish up your resume and start looking. You can always play after work.

that's what I'm thinking. right now trying to juggle an (essentially volunteer) assistant baseball coach position (about 4-5 hours commitment a day) with playing full time is just wearing me down. but I'm enjoying the regular schedule grind better than the poker grind. If I had my FTP money, or legalization had happened it would be a different story because I could step back and take stock in things. But as I'm the kind of person that never feels like he has enough saved so I've just kept my nose to the grind stone and little has gone right in the last 10 months.

Just feeling worn down and bored with the game. Learning something new and competitively trying to get to the top of another field seems appealing.

If it gets to the point where it's just not enjoyable anymore and the DoJ stepping in yet again is still a possibility its can't be a bad idea to find an engineering job and play some poker on the side (if you so desire).

I've actually stopped playing altogether because of grad school, but that's just my situation. I'm just too busy to get any sort of consistent volume in at all.

I got a job and its been a reasonably enjoyable experience. Surprisingly.

yeah I'll probably turn this into a long blog post at some point, but playing poker full time has been a really weird experience for me in a lot of ways (but good weird). I started working jobs when I was about 14 and always worked up until I quit my job to play poker. Even when playing college baseball I was working 10-15 hours a week running a student owned laundry service. From about age 17-23 I probably averaged about 5 hours of sleep a night. Part of me misses that kind of grind where you just steadily worked long hours until you accomplished a task. Vs playing poker which is a few hours a day of intense concentration with wildly varying results that sometimes make it difficult to feel a sense of accomplishment.

Hey DamnRinger, are you still in the Engineering field? I remember reading your blog a few years ago you were taking some exams. Do you still need to take those?

yeah i basically went back to exactly the job i was doing before going pro in 08.

I made sure I passed my FE (test required to be eligible for PE lateR), before I was really removed from engineering. So I'm all setup on tests... just gotta get 2 more years of experience to take the PE.

Man I sure hope we hear something concrete this week with regards to FTP. gl to us all.

what's up guys. this is cjm627, I hope everyone is getting by ok since ftp went down. I don't post on 2 plus 2 often, but I have have been following the ftp situation fairly closely and am basically ready for this to be over one way or another, but just really hope that we get at least a majority of our money. Anyway, (kind of an odd suggestion): but....I don't have any friends in the 2 plus 2 community and never used tracking software to track my tendencies while playing and since we can no longer battle on ftp I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in trading notes on each other to help improve each others games for if and when we can start playing again on US sites (fingers crossed on that too!) pm me if interested. btw: I have been working about 30 hours a week, playing a little bit on merge, and playing even less live....it hasn't been too bad but I really just want online poker to come back in some capacity close to pre BF. Take it easy guys.

Hey... I haven't been posting much lately, so might not be very recognizable, but used to play MSNL FR and some 6max on Stars and FTP before the debacle.

Anyways, I just got to Toronto - currently in a hotel, looking for a place.
Wondering 2 things:
1) Anyone in the area know a decent spot for 1k/month(ish) that would accommodate the needs of a temp American with no furniture?
2) Anyone wanna hang out? I know literally no one here. Poker, beers, caramels? Pretty game for anything.

Hey, not too sure about places in TO as I'm in London, but anything close to a subway stop should be decent. I'd avoid scarborough. I do go to Toronto sometimes, would be up for a beer next time I'm around. Who were you on FTP btw?

I was SpaghettiTime on FTP. Played 2/4 and 3/6 FR and some 6-max, whatever was good. Also some 1/2 when tilting and a bunch of rush towards the end.
I'm actually kinda near Scarborough - couldn't find any place reasonable near a stop that was open when I needed it (should've come right before the start of a new month). So I'm up in Markham, which is okay. Need to drive everywhere and everything is strip malls, but I guess I had my fun for nearly a year just going out in NYC - time to get back to the grind. Could definitely use an occasional break though if anyone's ever in town.

markham should be cool, especially if you're into asians. i'll give you a shout when I get back from traveling, but you should be fine in TO. there will be plenty of stuff going on in the summer if you can handle the gross weather
